Legacy Day is one of our favorite traditions at Warriors & Quiet Waters, bringing together veterans, families, supporters, and friends in a shared spirit of remembrance and community.

This year, we celebrated our inaugural WQW Champions, unveiled new pavers in the Jean Hastings Memorial Garden, and reflected on the stories, service, and sacrifice of our nation's veterans. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so meaningful.

Last week's cohort of warriors presented Warriors & Quiet Waters with this handcrafted paddle, a longstanding tradition in the Recon community.

This cohort of Recon Marines served together and passed the paddle among themselves, contributing to its construction and decoration before presenting it to WQW as a symbol of their shared experience.

Inscribed on the paddle:

"We served together and now have found renewed individual purpose and shared growth as a team. Forever grateful for the opportunity to Make it Matter as part of the Warriors & Quiet Waters community. Thank you!"

We're honored by this gift, which now proudly hangs at Quiet Waters Ranch.

This week at Warriors & Quiet Waters, we're hosting a Built for More Initial Fishing Experience with a cohort of all-female combat veterans. We're also joined by two participants from our Built for More Photography Experience (PX) who have returned to continue developing their photography skills while working alongside photographer Mike MacLeod to document the week. The first photo in this set was taken by PX participant Flower, and the second by Sarah. We also have some all-star volunteers helping make this an extra-special week!

This weekend, Warriors & Quiet Waters joined Carry The Load and our Billings community to honor the sacrifices of our nation's military, veterans, first responders, and their families.

Part of Carry The Load's nationwide Memorial May movement, the event brought together Congressman Troy Downing, Billings Police Department Chief Rich St. John, the Yellowstone American Legion Post 4 Riders, representatives from the Montana Army National Guard, local veteran service organizations, and community members.

As Ashlee Perry shared in her opening remarks, "This is what community looks like."

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Rocky Mountain College to honor, remember, and carry the load.

A big thank you to the students of Belgrade High School and Mr. Randy Radke’s shop class for donating a newly built storage shed to Warriors & Quiet Waters!

The project was completed through the Job Site Ready Program funded by Accelerate Montana. Students completed 30 hours of training before spending two days building the shed, which will provide winter storage for outdoor furniture at the ranch.

We’re grateful for their hard work, craftsmanship, and support of our mission. Congratulations to these students ahead of graduation this weekend!

This Memorial Day, we remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Last year at Legacy Day, CSM (Ret.) Patrick McCauley shared a reminder that we honor the fallen not only for their sacrifice, but for who they were. Friends. Family. Teammates.

As we spend time with loved ones today, may we pause to remember those who made that sacrifice for our country.

CSM (Ret) Patrick McCauley, a distinguished Army Special Operations veteran, shares a poignant Memorial Day message on service, sacrifice, and remembrance. W...

This winter at Quiet Waters Ranch, we filled the pool and converted the space into the Mark and Jenny Mummert Functional Fitness Gym.

The pool saw limited use, and this shift better supports the mission and the Warriors we serve. We are grateful to Dialed Fitness for their support in selecting and sourcing equipment for the space.

Holistic wellness is foundational to a thriving life, and our Built for More program. The addition of a gym at Quiet Waters Ranch allows us to better address that need. Structured exercise is now a core part of Built for More experiences at QWR. Time in the gym is not about intensity, but about consistency, confidence, and rebuilding routine.

For some, it is a return to physical challenge. For others, it is bringing the same healthy habits they practice at home to QWR.

This week, we welcomed our first Built for More Initial of 2026 to Quiet Waters Ranch. Spring does not truly begin until warriors are casting lines into the ponds at QWR again.

Quiet Waters Ranch is a beautiful place, but it is the people who bring it to life. The Warriors, guides, volunteers, and staff are what make these grounds matter. We are grateful to open the doors once again and watch the ranch fill with community, laughter, healing, and connection for the first time this spring.
