Effective immediately the Back Porch and the Box are closed to the public for nesting prairie falcons. This is the first time since 2020 that the falcons have been observed in these formations and why they were not initially closed on February 1, 2026. There has been a decline in prairie falcon nesting in the Flatirons in recent years with a concurrent increase peregrine falcon occupancy so it is exciting to see the prairie falcons return to a historic nesting site.

Please respect the raptor closures and reference the OSMP closures map .org for the most up to date information.

Today—and every day—we celebrate the incredible landscapes that make our climbing community possible. This Earth Day we’re reminded how vital it is to protect the places we play.

As climbers, we are stewards. Whether it’s brushing off our ticks, packing out trash, staying on designated trails, or supporting local conservation efforts, our actions matter.

This Earth Day, commit to small changes that make a big impact. Join us in caring for the Flatirons and beyond.
