🚀 Collaboration in the works—and a dream becoming reality!

Three years ago at Boston Flourish, leaders dreamed of a tool that could better connect Boston’s immigrant-serving organizations with the resources our neighbors need. Today, the Boston Immigrant Resource Dashboard (BIRD) has officially relaunched with a fresh new look and new features to make collaboration easier!

From enhanced service searches to secure provider forums and weekly reminders, BIRD helps organizations stay connected and keep resource information up to date.

And we’re excited to see this collaboration grow! 🤝 Victoria Rodriguez, an intern with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Advancement, is joining us to onboard providers and spread the word—a wonderful example of the Church and city working together to love our neighbors.

📣 Join us October 29 at Boston Flourish as Rev. Kelly Fassett and Rev. Melinda Priest lead our opening plenary and share the story behind this three-year journey.

As we celebrate five years of Boston Flourish, BIRD is a powerful reminder that when we bring people and organizations together around a shared vision, ideas can become lasting infrastructure bearing witness to God’s love and care.

Come be part of the story! 💛

What will leadership in Greater Boston’s churches look like in ten years—and how will the generations walk together? ⛪️

In yesterday’s UniteBoston newsletter, we highlighted a pivotal season of pastoral transition across our region. A recent Boston Globe feature on Bishop Matthew Thompson Sr.’s consecration at Jubilee Christian Church offers one glimpse of this wider generational shift.

Seasoned pastors are considering who will follow them. Emerging leaders are discerning where to step forward. Congregations are asking how to serve a changing city.

This year, the Emmanuel Gospel Center has been listening to leaders across generations about what these transitions require. Join us at Boston Flourish on October 29 to hear insights from that citywide listening process, learn from Boston faith leaders navigating transition, and explore how generations can lead together.

The relationships we build today can help our churches and communities flourish for decades to come.

We checked in from North Carolina—and now we’re back in Boston with plenty to think about! 👋🏾 This little hello captures a moment from our week at Duke Divinity School’s Capacity-Building Grant Convening.

So much of ministry involves tending to what’s right in front of us. Stepping away lets us see the bigger picture, hear how others are navigating similar challenges, and consider new possibilities for UniteBoston’s work.

We’re thankful for Duke’s continued investment in UniteBoston and for a few days of encouragement, thoughtful questions, and good company. Take a moment to say hello back! 💛

🍽️ There’s something powerful about gathering around the table.

What a blessing to be at Duke Divinity School this week for their Capacity-Building Grant Convening! Duke’s partnership has helped UniteBoston grow over the past few years through support for staff, curriculum development, marketing, and strategic planning. We’re so grateful!

With this year’s theme, “At the Table” (Proverbs 9:1–6), we’ve been learning alongside leaders throughout the country doing work that resonates deeply with ours.

Here are a few of them! We met Dr. Christina Edmondson, author of a book we love entitled “Faithful Antiracism;” Kyra Liberakis who lives in Boston and has a growing number of Orthodox Volunteer Corps hubs across the country, and connected with David Bailey from Arrabon, who also equips people to pursue healing and reconciliation in their communities!

Thank you to Angie Hong and the Duke team for designing this space for rich, Spirit-led conversation.

We’re coming away with a lot of fresh wisdom —and a reminder that we’re better equipped for our work when we learn and grow at the table together. 🍽️💛

💙 30 years of building hope—and a home for generations to come!

Last week, nearly 350 neighbors, friends, and partners gathered to celebrate 30 years of the Boston Project Ministries and the generations of young people and families who have shaped this community.

Through powerful stories, music, and testimonies from youth, parents, volunteers, and leaders, we were reminded what makes Boston Projects so special: a place where young people find belonging, caring mentors, and a community that helps them grow in life and faith.

At UniteBoston, we believe the flourishing of our city happens when Christians build bridges across divides and nurture collaborative mission, reconciliation, and justice. Boston Projects is a beautiful example of what it looks like to invest in our neighbors and cultivate communities marked by God’s shalom!

Now, they’re dreaming toward the next 30 years! 🏡

A Home for Generations will create a permanent Youth and Young Adult Center in Dorchester—a place where future generations can belong, grow, and lead.

Every gift will be matched dollar for dollar, as the Boston Projects team works toward its remaining $475,000 goal. Prayerfully consider this opportunity to invest in the next generation of leaders in our city!

Grateful for everyone who has helped build this legacy—and for the collaborative work of creating a city where every generation can flourish. Here’s to the next 30 years! 🌇🤝

🕊️ Find a Way: A Pilgrimage Toward Healing 👣

“Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8

What does it take to begin healing centuries of harm? It starts with the slow, embodied work of listening, remembering, and reckoning with the past.

From October 12–15, Christian pilgrims will journey from South Kingstown, RI, to Boston to reckon with the legacy of King Philip’s War and listen anew to the land and the Indigenous peoples who have called it home for thousands of years.

Join us for the final leg of the journey in Boston on Thursday, October 15!

🥾 3:30 PM | Mini-Pilgrimage: Meet the pilgrims at Long Wharf and walk together to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage for prayer.

☕️ 5:00 PM | Prayer & Fellowship: Gather at the Well Coffee House on Tremont Street to break bread and hear reflections from the journey. Light appetizers provided.

As Christians, may we courageously remember our history, confess and repent of our missteps, so a new chapter of healing, justice, and shalom can take root in our communities.

Let us walk, together 👣

💛 Building communities of belovedness

Had a great lunch last week with UniteBoston’s spiritual director and dialogue consultant, Shelton Oakley Hersey!

We’re grateful to be drawing on Shelton’s wisdom and experience from The Dignity Project, where she has cultivated community among young adults of many backgrounds—creating spaces where teens build trust and learn to see the belovedness across our differences.

That same wisdom is shaping the Beloved Community Lab as we equip Christian leaders to engage difference with curiosity, compassion, and conviction—and to practice the hard, holy work of reconciliation.

So grateful for partners like Shelton who bring their gifts to our shared work as we mend divides and bear witness to the reconciling love of Jesus Christ. 🙏🏽

We had an inspiring time hosting the cast of Brotherhood: A Cinematic Musical right here at Boston University last month!✨

The film tells the powerful story of two neighbors—Jon, a U.S. citizen, and Fabián, a Mexican immigrant—who discover the power of friendships across cultural divides.

UB Cohort Alum Rev. Dr. Daniel Montañez and Dr. Cristian De La Rosa offered insights on why bridging differences is essential to addressing the critical issues of our time. Together, we reflected on the need to follow Jesus to build bridges across lines of difference to transform unjust systems and bear witness to the holistic transformation of the gospel.

Now, their story is hitting the big screen! It opens in theaters THIS Friday, Oct 9! Help bring screenings straight to Greater Boston by requesting our local theaters on the official site:

No woman should have to face a challenging season alone. ❤️

For over 42 years, the Boston Pregnancy Center (BPC) has offered compassionate care, practical resources, and community to women and families facing unexpected pregnancies.

Supporting pregnant mothers, meeting material needs, and surrounding families in crisis offer meaningful opportunities for the Body of Christ to serve together.

This week, our guest blogger is Laura-Teresa Chaboya, BPC’s Director of Community Engagement & Development and a member of Hope Christian Church in Wi******er. She shares how churches across Greater Boston can unite in practical service so women and families have the support they need.

Read this week’s blog and discover how your church can get involved, here: https://uniteboston.com/she-is-not-alone-the-boston-pregnancy-centers-call-to-unite-the-church-for-life/?blm_aid=203777
