Thank you to everyone who connected with us at the recent EAZA - the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria Annual Conference in Paris! Several members of the Species360 team joined over 1,000 colleagues from zoos and aquariums across Europe and further afield for a week of learning and collaboration. We delivered a Species360 update and interactive ZIMS workshop, and presented in a number of sessions including the EAZA Records Working Group, the EAZA Population Management Advisory Group, among others.

It was so wonderful to connect with our members, and hear more about how you're using ZIMS for animal care, welfare, and conservation. Thank you to EAZA, Parc zoologique de Paris, and La Ménagerie, le zoo du jardin des Plantes for a fantastic and insightful conference! 👏

Congratulations to Species360 member Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB) on a record-breaking year for its conservation breeding program for elongated tortoises! 👏 The centre in Cambodia has welcomed an incredible 201 hatchlings in 2026, bringing a vital boost for this critically endangered species.

The hatchlings are raised on-site until they are large enough to withstand predators, at which point they will be released into the wild.

New in ZIMS! We’re excited to share that Enrichment has received an exciting upgrade in ZIMS, with a brand-new mobile-friendly Enrichment workflow in Data Entry. 📲

Enrichment is a crucial component of animal welfare, so we are pleased to offer a new and improved way of recording it in ZIMS. The new workflow, released today, is goal-based. Through the Data Entry screen users can now identify an enrichment goal first, assign multiple enrichment items for that goal, and assign the item to animals at the same time.

The new workflow simplifies the process of recording enrichment especially if QR codes are generated and located at the enclosure for easy access to the Data Entry screen.
