🐌 Fused Glass: Sea Slug
📅 October 29, 2026 | 🕕 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Real or imaginary, hot pink or beige—your sea slug can be as weird, colorful, or realistic as you want. 🌈

This beginner-friendly class is a fun introduction to fused glass, where students will use a provided slug outline and choose their own colors and patterns to create a one-of-a-kind glass creation.

Along the way, you’ll:
🔹 Learn the basics of working with fused glass
🔹 Choose your own color palette and design
🔹 Build your sea slug using a provided layout
🔹 Create a quirky handmade piece that’s completely your own

✨ Instructor: Mary — recently returned to Birmingham after teaching at the Arthur Morgan School in Burnsville, North Carolina. Mary has been working with glass for the past four years, beginning with fused glass before expanding into stained glass, and also enjoys fiber arts, woodturning, and block printing.

🪵 Cutting Boards for Beginners

Ready to get into woodworking? This beginner-friendly class is a great place to start. You’ll create your own handmade cutting board while learning the foundational skills that take a project from raw hardwood to a finished piece you’ll actually use.

Along the way, you’ll:
🔹 Choose from a variety of cutting board designs
🔹 Work with different native hardwoods
🔹 Learn proper assembly, gluing, and clamping techniques
🔹 Use the thickness planer and orbital sander
🔹 Sand and finish your board for a polished final result

You’ll leave class with a stylish handmade cutting board—and some new woodworking skills under your belt.

🔥 Introduction to Welding

Been wanting to learn how to weld but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly class is a great introduction to the metal shop and the fundamentals of welding.

Students will get hands-on experience while learning:
🔹 MIG welding basics
🔹 Metal cutting and grinding
🔹 Proper hand tool use
🔹 Shop safety and setup
🔹 Foundational fabrication techniques

No prior welding experience is necessary—just come ready to learn, make sparks, and build some new skills.
