The Way Station A safe place for people experiencing or at risk for homelessness.

The Way Station is an emergency, overnight, crisis stabilization shelter and transitional housing program for young people ages 18 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness. We provide 20 beds in the overnight shelter and 20 beds in the transitional housing program for an up to two-year stay.

☔ When Everything You Own Fits in One Bag, a Rainstorm Can Put Everything at Risk.

For someone experiencing homelessness, rainy weather can mean soaked clothing, damaged personal belongings, and the added stress of trying to keep everything together.

That's why something as simple as a suitcase or duffel bag can make such a BIG difference.

Our Way Station shelter is in need of NEW or GENTLY USED SUITCASES AND DUFFEL BAGS!

A sturdy bag helps our clients:
• Keep clothing and personal belongings organized
• Better protect important items from rain and moisture
• Carry their belongings more easily between locations
• Maintain a sense of dignity and independence

Help Us Stock a Kitchen! The Way Station is looking for donations of new or gently used kitchen essentials for our clients, including:

• Pots and pans
• Dishes and bowls
• Cups and glasses
• Utensils
• Other basic kitchen items

Many of our clients are moving from homelessness into temporary or permanent housing with very few household belongings. Your donations can help turn an empty kitchen into a functional space and make the transition into housing a little easier.

Donations support clients across our Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, and Rapid Re-Housing programs.

Every donation helps someone feel a little more at home. 🏠

Our fence is going up, and we are SO excited to see this project happening at The Way Station! We are incredibly grateful to Councilor Darrell O’Quinn’s office and the LGBTQ Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham for helping make this possible.

This new fence is more than an improvement to our property. It helps us provide an even safer, more secure space for the people who come through our doors.

Our Way Station needs new or gently used towels and washcloths for the clients we serve.

For many clients in our Transitional Housing and Rapid Re-Housing programs, moving from homelessness into housing means starting over with very few household belongings. After securing a place to live, purchasing everyday essentials like towels, bedding, kitchenware, and other basic items may simply not fit into the budget.

Your donations can help make a new space feel more comfortable and make the transition into housing a little easier.

From August 23 through September 23:

• 43 people received shelter and support
• 567 nights of shelter were provided
• 300 laundry services were completed
• 10 clothing closet visits

🏠 FOUR emergency shelter clients secured housing!

That’s what this work is all about. A safe place to stay. Support when you need it. And a path toward stable housing.

A suitcase may seem like a small thing, but for someone experiencing homelessness, it can make a big difference.

We're in need of **new or gently used suitcases and duffle bags** for our Way Station shelter clients. Many of our clients have limited space to store their belongings overnight, and having one sturdy bag helps them keep everything together safely and with dignity.

Support The Way Station Through Our Amazon Wish List!

Want an easy way to support clients at The Way Station? Our Amazon Wish List makes it simple to purchase much-needed items and have them sent directly to us!

We’re currently in need of:
• New or gently used bedding, including sheets, comforters, blankets, and pillowcases
• New or gently used towels and washcloths
• New or gently used kitchen items, including pots, pans, dishes, cups, utensils, and other basic kitchen essentials

These donations support clients throughout our Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, and Rapid Re-Housing programs.

At our Emergency Shelter, we provide clean bedding to clients each day they check in, making linens and towels an ongoing need.

For clients in Transitional Housing and Rapid Re-Housing, moving into a new home often means starting with very few household belongings. Bedding, towels, kitchenware, and other essentials help make their new space functional, comfortable, and feel more like home.

Every donation helps us provide a little more comfort and stability for someone taking the next step toward permanent housing.
