This week’s average Birmingham Metro air quality:
53 - MODERATE. 🟡 this is the lowest average we’ve had in weeks.

An AQI of 53 falls in the “Moderate” range (51-100).
That means air quality is generally acceptable, but some people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution may experience health effects.

At GASP, we believe people deserve access to information about the air they breathe. With the help of our AirKeepers, we’re building a community-powered picture of Birmingham’s air quality.

Follow along each week to see what the data tells us about our air. 🌤️

We’re getting ready for NYC Climate Week! 🌎

On Monday, September 21, GASP Executive Director, Jilisa Milton will join frontline organizers and leaders at The New School for “A Bull in a China Shop: The Cost of Hyper Scale AI to Our Climate and Democracy.” Presented by MediaJustice The Solutions Project Tishman Center

This conversation will ask:
What does hyperscale AI mean for communities on the ground?
Who gets a say in what gets built?
How can communities challenge unchecked development?
What happens when environmental justice and democracy organizers work together?

Jilisa will bring Alabama’s environmental justice perspective to this national conversation.
