Today, we’re recognizing the first responders who show up when our communities need them most.

On National First Responders Day, Children's Aid Society of AL thanks Alabama’s law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS professionals, and other first responders for the work they do to protect our communities. Through the Child Trafficking Solutions Project (CTSP), we partner with first responders and professionals across disciplines to strengthen how Alabama recognizes, responds to, and prevents child trafficking. Protecting children takes more than a quick response. It takes awareness, collaboration, trauma-informed care, and a shared commitment to their safety.

To every first responder who continues to learn, work together, and help protect Alabama’s children: thank you.

We believe great theatre happens in partnership with our whole community. This fall we're grateful to be working alongside Children's Aid Society of Alabama with Flora Meets a Bee!

Since its founding in 1912, CAS has remained dedicated to building strong children, youth, and families through professional, licensed, and loving service and care. CAS works to establish safe homes where families can stay together, and parents can strengthen their parenting skills. The path for families touched by adoption is reinforced while CAS helps them navigate the lifelong adoption journey.

And they will be joining us in the lobby at each performance of Flora Meets a Bee in November, which is National Adoption Month! 💞

Home should be the place where you feel safe and supported. 🏡 Project Independence (PI), a program of Children’s Aid Society of AL, has two new units, and we’re inviting you to help make them feel like home.

Our PI Youth Consultant, Azarious Lawry, and the PI crew are getting these spaces ready to welcome additional 16-21 year old moms who are overcoming homelessness while keeping their young families together. PI serves pregnant and parenting young mothers by creating connections to career, education, and life skills that help them succeed while they parent. These young moms are doing intense work to build brighter futures for themselves and their children. 💜💙💚

A few thoughtful touches can turn a unit into a place to belong, and you can be part of that through PI’s Amazon Wishlist.

Adoption is rooted in love, but there is always loss to acknowledge. Love takes work. Adoptees need connection and support. Adoptive parents need resources support and community. Research shows adoptees face higher odds of substance use disorders, but connection, acceptance, and open conversation can make a real difference.

📅 Nov. 10 TTN Event with Allison Davis Maxon, LMFT, Executive Director of the National Center on Adoption and Permanency, and co-author of Seven Core Issues in Adoption and Permanency. Join in person in Birmingham or online and earn 5.5 NBCC-approved CEUs.

🎓 TAC (Training in Adoption Competency): a one-year certificate for master's-level clinicians with 60 contact hours. Children's Aid Society of Alabama is the only approved TAC training site in Alabama, and registration opens soon.
