Well, it's the end of the school year as we know it. And I feel fine. (Mostly.)

🌈 June 3: PTO Social, 5 p.m., Kulshan Trackside. Bring the whole family, and spend a couple hours celebrating this amazing community.
🌈 June 10: Field Day takes place from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. ( 3rd - 5th graders) and
1:20 to 2:20 p.m. (Promise-K - 2nd graders). Students are encouraged to wear their Move-A-Thon shirts for the day. Parents are welcome to attend, and we still need volunteers: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094CA4A72AA7FEC70-64079693-field #/
🌈 June 12: The epic End-of-the-Year Assembly will take place from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. in the cafeteria. This event is open to the public. The Wade King Junior and Morning Choir will perform. Following the assembly, a short meet-and-greet will be held for 5th grade students and their families in the covered area outside of the gymnasium.
🌈 June 12: Don't forget the Fifth Grade Tunnel of Love at the end of the day (12:15 p.m.) to celebrate our graduating students before they move on to middle school.
🌈 June 12: Lost & Found D(onation)-Day: I will be double checking for name labels and packing up the Lost & Found for donation after school. If I find any labeled items, the office will reach out to those families. Otherwise, it's sayonara to this year's mountain of stuff.
🌈 June 12: The Wade King Choir will sing the National Anthem at the Bellingham Bells vs. Portland Pickles game. Wade King community members receive $5 tickets with a special code. Interested? Visit www.wadekingpto.org, and check out the Choir page for more details.

Join us at Kulshan Trackside this Wednesday, June 3, at 5 p.m. for our end-of-the-year PTO social. This casual event is open all, so stop by for some food trucks, drinks, and fun.

Join us THIS FRIDAY, May 29, for the Wade King Arts Festival: Frida & Film.

This year, we will feature performances by all Wade King choirs, custom films from each grade level (as well as staff), and displayed student art, inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The PTO will provide complimentary popcorn. Doors open at 5:30, and the performance will begin at 6 p.m.

The Lost & Found will also be outside displayed consignment-style, so be sure to check it out before D(onation)-Day on June 12.

Join us TOMORROW after school for our final Playground Playdate of the school year! The Kona Ice Truck will be on site to give us an early taste of summer. All payment methods are accepted, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Wade King PTO. It's a win-win.

We have two final events this year, and we need your help! This is the last time (this school year). Pinky promise.

At our final PTO meeting, Principal Ross-Webb and Madam PTO president Kate Boucher honored this year's Golden Acorn recipient, Andrea Walkenhauer.

This award is so well-deserved! Andrea is an outstanding Wade King volunteer, giving 110 percent to the organize and head Wade King's Move-A-Thon, which is not an easy task. The Move-A-Thon is the PTO's most important fundraiser of the year, and every year it's gotten progressively more successful thanks to Andrea. 🌈

The Golden Acorn is an award given to volunteers for their outstanding service and commitment to our community. Recipients are chosen by Wade King's administration.

As a personal aside, Andrea and I have known each other since our boys were in preschool (they are third graders now), and I have to say that I'm extremely lucky to call her a friend. I'm constantly in awe of her huge heart and the effort she puts into bettering the Wade King community. Thank you for everything you do.

TOMORROW EVENING at 6:30 p. m. is our LAST PTO meeting of the year.

Why should you attend? The obvious answer is to learn more about Field Day and next year's board members. But this is also, this is a gentle reminder that if you're a parent or guardian of a Wade King student, you're on the PTO.

You have a voice.
No questions asked.
No expectations.
No membership fee.

And I'd like to use these photos to illustrate that while we sometimes address the hard topics, we have fun too. I promise, we're not a clique! We're just parents who love the Wade King and the community, and you can give as little or as much time to the PTO as YOU want.

We hope you'll stop by! Kate provides candy, and you can skip bedtime routines. What's not to love?

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is wrapping up, and coincidentally, it's also the last day you can donate to the Move-A-Thon. (We're up to $29,913. WAY TO GO!)

Thank you to everyone who made this week and the Move-A-Thon possible: our PTO and parent volunteers. And of course, thank you to our teachers and staff who do the hard work educating and inspiring our kiddos daily. We see you. You're the real MVPs.
