Last week was Maine Wasted Food Prevention Week. Great work from the Center for Sustainability Solutions. Let’s all join them this week – and every week – to prevent wasted food in Maine!

In September, The Belfast Soup Kitchen rescued 13,792 lbs. of food through the Hannaford Fresh Rescue Donation Program.

Congratulations to the Belfast Soup Kitchen for another banner month of Common Cents fundraising!
We raised $7,923.48 for BSK, from over 16,244 individual donations made by Co-op shoppers over September 2026. Every little bit adds up!⁠

We’re proud to help spread the word about Come Down From Up River, a special benefit for United Midcoast Charities at the Camden Opera House on October 23 & 24.

At its heart, the play is about people showing up for one another. That spirit of practical help, compassion and community response has obvious resonance for us.

100% of the show’s profits will be donated to United Midcoast Charities to support the local organizations it funds.
