We simply love the relationship we have with Austin’s business community. Recently, our friends from Aramark sent a decadent spread of coffee and sweet treats to all of our family communities in Austin. Yum! It was in observance of National Coffee Day.

Foundation Communities is thrilled to receive $2.125 million from the Raising Travis County fund to support 14 of our on-site Learning Centers! This fund is a voter-approved initiative dedicated to expanding access to affordable, quality out-of-school time programs.

Foundation Communities is very grateful to the voters and Commissioners Court of Travis County for this funding, which is helping us continue to provide, and expand, the After-School and Summer Learning Programs for our residents and neighbors.

The Afterschool program is well underway, and dozens of students are enjoying activities that will enrich them academically, creatively, emotionally and physically. Recently, members of our Community Support Services (CSS) team hosted an event to help residents create Power of Attorney documents. Staff from Foundation Communities' Prosper Centers were there to add their expertise. Prosper has a new Power of Attorney assistance program. Many thanks to Jim Harrington and his team from Proyecto Santiago who were there as well.

Attendees were also informed about other resources they can access through CSS and our Prosper Centers. It was a great event and we are looking forward to the next one.

❤️It is our sincere pleasure to announce that we have partnered with some incredible organizations to offer a higher level of onsite medical services at our Balcones Terrace supportive housing community. Residents are now able to meet once or twice every week with health professionals from CommUnityCare Health Centers for medical checkups, and consultations with a licensed Physician Assistant and medical case managers.

👩‍⚕️This is a free service to Foundation Communities as part of the Permanent Supportive Housing Health Care Collaborative (PSH/HCC), a coordinated effort in Austin and Travis County aimed at combining Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) with integrated medical and behavioral healthcare.

“Having the CommUnityCare team onsite to work with Foundation Communities’ residents is an absolute game-changer!," said Foundation Communities Director of Supportive Services Sofia Barbato. “Many of our residents have not received medical care for many years and they are reluctant to go to typical clinic settings to reestablish care. Because of this partnership they don’t need to!”

Plans are in place to also offer these medical services to residents of Burleson Studios, which is weeks away from opening. We are grateful to Integral Care, CommUnity Care, Central Health, Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO), and everyone who helped to create this incredible partnership to care for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
