The work of Foundation Communities touches many lives, and the most impactful moments are probably when a family is able to exit homelessness and move into one of our apartments. Recently, the Pesina family invited us to join them as they saw their new apartment in Norman Commons for the first time. They are part of our partnership with Salvation Army Austin and SAFE to address family homelessness in Central Texas.

Our 2026 Tax Help Season was a huge success! In Central Texas our Prosper Centers filed 15,650 returns, with a total of $25.8 million in refunds. This wouldn't have been possible without the 400+ IRS-Certified Volunteers who dedicated 22,090 hours of their time. These volunteers provided free support to individuals and families to help them get the maximum possible tax refund.

Additionally, our Dallas Tax Centers completed 8,767 tax returns for clients, with $12.5 million in refunds! And, in Arlington, our Shadow Brook Community Tax Center completed 1,855 returns with refunds totaling more than $3.1 million ✨

Join us for an exciting update from our Executive Director, Walter Moreau. Work is underway for rebuilding the Crossroads Apartments! Originally built in the 1970s and purchased by Foundation Communities in 1991, this is one of our first affordable housing communities. Once the project is complete, Crossroads will have 110 apartments and a small Learning Center!

Join our Executive Director, Walter Moreau, for a brief message about our new Prosper Center located in North Austin. Housed in the newly renovated St Marks United Methodist Church, this space will center all of our free community programs like Tax Preparation, Health Coverage Enrollment, College Aid, and more! With four acres of land we will also be building a new affordable housing community next to Walnut Creek Elementary School, making it a wonderful location for families and kids!

Let's take a moment to shout THANK YOU to a group of volunteers from KPMG. They spent part of today sprucing things up at our Laurel Creek Apartments Learning Center. This is KPMG's annual Community Impact Day and we're honored that these volunteers chose to serve one of our programs. They organized closets, restocked school supplies, cleaned out the kitchen and refreshed technology for the students in the afterschool program.
