We rely on volunteer foster homes to save dogs from kill shelters all across the state of Texas.

This is never a post we like to make. If you remember the last litter of puppies born into the rescue, Peony here is one of them. A little over a year old, she is being returned to HHDR. Her family is incredibly heartbroken to have to return her, but because of life changes, they can no longer provide for Peony.

Peony is a Great Pyrenees mix, she is a big girl. We are waiting on more information about her. She does need a foster home ASAP.

That face and those body wrinkles. Moose is as charming as he is adorable… and adoptable! He is the loving loaf you have been looking for. Cuddly and affectionate with full body wiggles to greet you, not just when you come home, but when you enter the room or when Moose comes in from being outside. The love this senior has to give is endless. You don’t have to search for a dog to look at you with unconditional love because you’ve found him right here!!

Now will he steal your spot on the couch, probably. Will he rearrange your cushions, pillows and blanket… oh 100%. Will he have you going “AWWW… 🥹” when you see him so comfy cozy, absolutely.

Moose is amazing with people, gentle with little kids and coexists with two little female dogs (10 & 13lbs) at his foster’s home. We are not sure how he will do with larger dogs or males. Cats are a no go for Moose.

Moose is 8 years old and nearly 60 lbs (he is on a diet). He walks wonderfully on leash, loves a car ride, is housebroken and crate trained. This guy even enjoys going to the vet, does great at bath time and kindly lets you trim his nails.

The happiest derp girl in all the land! Kai is such a sweet and cuddly girl once she feels comfortable with you. You will love her as much as we do if you just give her a chance. (The last photo is very much part of her personality and charm too!)

Kai is such a smart girl. She’s crate trained, housebroken, knows multiple commands, is muzzle trained, rides great in the car and walks well on leash. She loves puzzles and chews, cuddles and kisses. Belly rubs and back scratches are her favorite.

Kai will be most successful in a home with no other pets, no children and with someone that doesn’t have a lot of new folks coming in and out of their home. If you have company over she is happy to chill in the bedroom with a good bone.

How do we have all these kiddos with the best ears?! If you’re looking for a more mature furry friend, Beatrice is the perfect match for you! She is the perfect combination of playful and chill. You can take her to any patio and she’ll have the best time while being so well behaved. Especially if there are squirrels she can watch.

Lady B is great with other dogs and kids. She’s housebroken and crate trained. She is smart and funny. She absolutely loves car rides and even walks well on leash. Just the best senior girl!

Moose says he will be the best couch snuggler you have ever met! He is such a loving loaf. He will make you the happiest pet parent. You’ll be asking yourself everyday how you got so lucky to have Moose in your life.

Moose had a rough start. He was found dumped with his bestie Poppy (who has already been adopted). He was heartworm positive with terrible ear infections and bad skin. Today he is heartworm free, his ears are all healed and his skin looks so much better. Now he is on a diet, that sedentary life while going through treatment made him a little overweight, but his daily walks and diet food are slowly helping.

Moose adores people, he is gentle with kids and he has been doing great with his little foster home friend Olive (she is an 11 lbs & 15 years old mutt). Cats are a no go for Moose.

Have you seen a happier girl? Vassy is such a bundle of joy that’s always in a good mood… and she’ll have you in great mood too when you adopt her!

A fun and bubbly girl… Vassy is incredibly friendly and quite the social butterfly. She makes an excellent shopping buddy, rides wonderful in the car too. Vassy enjoys walks, chew toys and loves playing with other dogs. We do recommend she only play with dogs her size or larger.

Vassy is smart, learning basic commands, and she is housebroken & crate trained. She is about 11 months old and around 45 lbs. She’s energetic and would love an active adopter or someone that has an assertive dog her size to play with. She’s good with kids too, but hasn’t been tested with cats. Her love of squirrel chasing leads us to believe a cat free home would be best.

He’ll always put a smile on your face and brighten any bad day you might be having. The goober with a heart of gold!!

Dutch is a friendly dude, happily greeting all folks he meets. He loves to play with other dogs and has been going to school to learn how to properly socialize. We’re told by his teachers he is a smart kid, with some ADHD. What parent hasn’t heard that before? With some training Dutch is fully capable the best dog ever… he already has the best personality.

Dutch is around 70 lbs, is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, crate trained, housebroken, rides amazing in the car, walks well on leash, has wonderful recall in public, and is an all around great guy!

Meet Vassy! Good Party ATX introduced Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner TV to this sweet girl who is looking for a family!

Vassy is a playful, just-under-one-year-old pup currently in foster care with Happy Happy Hearts Dog Rescue, and she’s basically the definition of a good girl!

She loves
🐶Playing with other dogs
🌳Going on walks
⭐Showing off her “sit” skills (especially if treats are involved)

“She’s a dog’s dog,” Wolf said, "Very sweet and ready for her forever home. She’d thrive in an active home or one with other pups to keep her company."

If you can’t adopt, fostering is always an option, and pups like Vassy are proof of just how rewarding it can be.

If her ears don’t get you, those puppy dog eyes will! Reese is such a cute and sweet little Boxer mix puppy. She is shy at first, but don’t let that fool you. Her super spunky personality comes out quickly and will have you smiling all the time.

Reese is 4 months old, fully vaccinated, spayed and ready for adoption. She is crate trained and about 90% potty trained. She loves other dogs, is good with kids, cats are unknown. She rides well in the car and is doing great learning to walk on leash.

It’s a progression to get the ears to pop just right. With or without ears, we think Dutch is a very cute boy! Him and his ears are available for adoption too!!

Dutch is a lovable goober, 3 1/2 years old, 70 lbs, smart with a little ADHD. He is crate trained and housebroken. This guy rides amazing in the car and walks well on leash. He loves a good stick, grabbing pup cups and happily greets everyone he meets. We are still working on doggy intros as he gets very excited and is learning how to read doggy social queues, but no matter what… this kid has a huge heart of gold!!
