Josh shared his personal story, the heart behind Fostering Hope’s mission, and the good news of God’s Fatherly love.

Last week, the Fostering Hope team had the opportunity to attend the first-ever Trauma Disruptor Coalition Conference here in Austin!

We’re grateful for the time to connect, learn, and grow alongside others who share a passion for disrupting cycles of trauma and helping children and families experience lasting healing.

Do you have experience, insight, or practical tools that could encourage and equip foster, adoptive, and kinship families? We’d love to hear from you!

We’re currently accepting presenter proposals for the 2027 Austin-area Foster, Adoptive, and Kinship Family Conference (AFAH), happening April 10, 2027.

⚓ This year’s theme, Anchored, is all about finding something steady to hold onto, and offering practical encouragement, meaningful connection, and renewed hope for the journey ahead.

Want to make a meaningful difference for a foster family?

Our Babysitting Certification Training equips participants to provide safe, trauma-informed respite care for foster families. You’ll receive training in trauma-informed care, medication administration, safe transportation practices, CPR, and First Aid, and we’ll provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks!

We have two upcoming trainings: October 24 in Waco and December 5 in Austin, both from 9am-4pm.

Providing respite care is a practical way to come alongside foster families and give caregivers the support they need.

We’re glad to share this opportunity from The Mayfly Project, a national nonprofit that uses fly fishing and mentorship to support children who are currently in or have experienced foster care.

Participants will join mentors for five outings, where they’ll learn to fly fish, tie flies, practice catch-and-release fishing, and learn about caring for our waterways. Plus, after completing all five sessions, each participant gets their own fishing gear to keep!
