Our Programs
Feeling Write TM
The premiere program of “Broadcast your Love” will be based on the journaling of events and emotions through writing and video recording. The Feeling Write project will create an online newspaper and podcast, which expresses the thoughts and feelings of young adults tackling the challenges of school, family life, and/or the loss of a parent or guardian. According t
o University of Texas psychologist and researcher, Dr. James Pennebaker, those who wrote about meaningful or traumatic events improved their health, immune function, hormonal activity, and other biological markers of stress or disease. Pennebaker believes it is more than just the venting or expressing of strong emotions that help people change. His research shows that the difference is linked to the way people think about the traumatic event, their emotions, and themselves. It appears that writing helps people create a coherent, logical story, leading to new meaning and understanding of the situation. Through the Feeling Write project, we hope to help make a difference in the lives of youth, young adults and women working through challenges. The curriculum and program, along with relevant outcome measures, will be developed for the specific target audience. We will work closely with our community partners for each target audience member to identify measures of success. Sample breakdown may be as follows:
Ages 12-14 (Middle School) - Ages 15-18 (High School) - Ages 18-21 - Women 21 and older
Hunka Hunka Brownie Love TM
