Congratulations to Patton Elementary’s longtime SPED Teaching Assistant, Erica Garza, celebrating 25 years of service! 🎉

For 25 years, she’s supported students, strengthened her school community, and stood together with her coworkers as an Education Austin member.

Help us celebrate the amazing members who make our schools strong. Send us photos of members celebrating milestones, retirements, awards, and other special moments!

Make cuts at Executive Director level and higher! Our schools should not carry the burden of Austin ISD’s budget crisis. Our students deserve fully staffed campuses, supported educators, and resources that stay in classrooms, not more cuts at the campus level!

If your school has been impacted by budget cuts, NOW is the time to speak up. Fill out a budget comment card and make your voice part of the public record before comments close on 6/18! Go to tinyurl.com/RIFHQ.

The last day of school always brings high emotions, and this year is no exception. Remember, if you or a member need assistance, please contact our office so your fellow members and our union staff can help make sure everything happens correctly.

These budget cuts are bringing a lot of uncertainty. If you've received a letter about your position for next year, you're not alone.

We've gathered the latest information we've been provided about the placement process and where to go with questions. Check the graphic for details, and please share it with colleagues who may need it.

Education Austin is here to support our members through this process.

Reminder: We are also showing up in person at the budget meeting tonight to keep community support high for our demands, like no 7/8. We have seen the success of demanding we keep librarians and stipends, we need to make sure we are keeping as many cuts away from campuses as possible!

Education Austin is proud to support Montserrat Garibay in her candidacy for Texas House District 49.

Montserrat’s story is deeply connected to public education, organized labor, and our Austin community. As a former bilingual educator and longtime Education Austin member, she has spent her career advocating for students, educators, immigrant families, and working people.

If elected, Montserrat would become the first former Dreamer elected to the Texas Legislature — a historic moment for representation in our state.

We know firsthand her commitment to strong public schools, dignity for educators, and opportunities for all Texans. We’re excited to see her continue this work and look forward to supporting her campaign journey.
