Yesterday marked the start of National Gun Storage Check Week (June 1–7). Just like we use the changing seasons to check the batteries in our home smoke detectors, this week is our community-wide reminder to check your firearm storage practices.

Hiding a firearm in a closet, under a mattress, or on top of the refrigerator is not secure storage. True responsible ownership means ensuring that when a firearm is not in use, it is completely inaccessible to children, unauthorized users, or anyone experiencing a tough time.

Take 5 minutes today to check your setup:

✅ Are your lockboxes and safes code-protected or locked?
✅ Is ammunition stored and locked separately?

Honoring Sacrifice, Ensuring Safety This Memorial Day Weekend 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we stand in solemn remembrance of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We honor their courage, selflessness, and dedication.

For many of us, this long weekend involves gatherings, travel, and spending time with loved ones. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate freedom.

As we enjoy these freedoms, let’s also commit to the highest standard of responsibility. If fi****ms are a part of your weekend, please keep these safety rules in focus:

Strictly Secure Your Fi****ms: If you are not actively carrying or using them, lock them up—unloaded and separate from ammunition. Gun locks and safes are essential.

Alcohol and Fi****ms Do Not Mix: Responsible ownership means knowing when to separate the two.

Educate Others: If you have guests, especially children, ensure they understand that fi****ms are not toys.

This past week's news in Austin is a stark reminder of why our mission at Lock Arms for Life is so vital. Police arrested teenagers after a dangerous shooting spree, and authorities confirmed the suspects were using stolen fi****ms.

When we leave our fi****ms unsecured in a vehicle or a drawer, we aren't just taking a risk at home—we are potentially supplying the next tragedy on our streets.
