So, this girl made it to California last night to her new home!!

We already made arrangements for us to bring Freya to El Paso and her new parents flew in from California. We all showed up on Friday ( the start of 2026’s ice storm) and all was great when she spent time with her new family. We kept her overnight with us, because we knew the ice storm wasn’t starting until that evening.

Well, Saturday morning up and ready to go! We pack up her food, toys and treats for the road. Plus, she is a bit of a Diva…. Her bed, blankets, collar, harness, cake mixes, supplements, brush, etc.

They had a 12 hour drive ahead of them and we had an 8 hour drive back to Austin. Well, due to the ice storm, they made I back to Los Angeles before we made it back to Austin!

I am so thankful Freya will now have the life she deserved from a pup and humans kept failing her and breeding her! She has the best parents and human siblings!

Well, I have a spayed, 4 year old, female Giant Schnauzer looking for a new home. She is sweet and loyal, but clingy and anxious. She was never crate trained… so, we are working on that. She is VERY food motivated and likes her balls thrown for her a few times a day. She is skittish at first as we believe she has probably been a little abused. She has a bark that will make you think twice about walking into your own home but as soon as she sees you it is love!

She is up to date on all shots, has bloodwork done, spayed, very basic training ( remember the VERY food motivated..) when food is involved she remembers her manners.

She can be a bit of a bully and might do best as an only child. But, we will consider each applicant’s situation.
She is not an apartment dog and needs a yard to run in.

She needs a lot of attention and continued work on training & crate training. She weighs in around 90lbs.

Continued training is a must! No small children and must have experience with large, high drive dogs

Karen’s Rescue is amazing! This mom has placed over 60 dogs in the last year and half all on her own. Please look her up and think of sending a small donation or dog food.

Huge shoutout to Operation Barking Squirrel specifically Terri Lynn for their amazing donation to Karen's Pet Rescue! 🙏🐾 They generously donated a 40-pound bag of Purina ONE dog food and two bags of non-chokable treats, which will make a huge difference in the lives of the animals we rescue and care for.

We have a PS Female Giant coming in today to Operation Barking Squirrel. She will be vaccinated and is supposed to be spayed. Gets along with other dogs and kids. Will know more later. She will be available for adoption once we have all the info.

Here’s a glimpse of the newest rescues coming to Operation Barking Squirrel!

We are incredibly fortunate that a kind-hearted individual saw these precious dogs up for sale and stepped in before they could fall into the wrong hands. Thanks to their quick action, we were able to ensure these three beautiful purebred Shih Tzus—two girls and one boy—would not end up in a puppy mill.

It is our sincere hope that the original owner will use the money they received to spay and neuter, preventing further cycles of irresponsible breeding. While we can’t save them all, every rescue is a step toward ending the suffering caused by neglect and exploitation.

These sweet pups will now know love, safety, and the care they deserve. Welcome to your new beginning!
