Andy Roddick Foundation We work with our community to expand opportunities for young people to learn, thrive and succeed.

The Andy Roddick Foundation was established in 2000 with a vision that all young people have endless opportunities to discover and achieve their potential. Since that time, the Foundation has worked with our community to raise funds for programs that improve the daily lives of thousand of children. Upon Andy Roddick's retirement from tennis, he decided to transform the Foundation from solely provi

ding grants to one that will have an even deeper community impact. In 2012, ARF moved its headquarters from Florida to Andy's hometown of Austin, Texas. In 2013 the Foundation underwent a strategic direction change to include a more comprehensive strategy to provide greater opportunity to young people residing in under-resourced neighborhoods in Austin. The Foundation is now focused on working with our community to expand opportunities for young people to learn, thrive, and succeed. We do this by ensuring young people have year round-opportunities outside the school day - where students spend 80% of their waking hours. These are the hours when students are at risk of losing academic skills, being a victim of violent crime, gaining weight by not being physically active, and engaging in risky behaviors. However, high-quality out-of-school time programs have a positive and lasting effect on students by keeping them safe, engaged, and active. We work to transform time outside of school into hours of opportunity!

School may be back in but we're still celebrating our incredible summer! Swipe to continue traveling around the world with ARF as we travel to Asia!🌏✨

Ever wish you could visit the Great Wall of China? Or the Taj Mahal? ARF campers got to explore the wonders of Asian landmarks and recreate them using recycled materials. Check out our campers’ versions of the Itsukushima Shrine in Japan, the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Singapore Flyer, in Singapore.

In addition to building landmarks, campers learned Bollywood dancing with Monsoon Dance, played cricket, made sushi, made Tibetan goodwill flags, and created paintings of koi fish.

To wrap up our week in Asia, ARF families joined us for an evening celebration. Campers showed off their projects from the week, participated in a live performance of the Bollywood dance that they had learned throughout the week and experienced an amazing performance by the Texas Dragon/Lion Dance Team!

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, ARF’s Summer Learning Program is completely free for all youth, allowing campers and their families to enjoy these unique experiences all summer long.

We’re excited to welcome Kondo Simfukwe to the Andy Roddick Foundation Board of Directors!

“Growing up in Zambia, I was a kid with dreams, potential, and promise—but very few opportunities or resources. My life was profoundly shaped by people who chose to invest in me, believe in me, and open doors that I could never have opened on my own. Their generosity changed the trajectory of my future.

That is why ARF’s mission resonates so deeply with me. I see my own story reflected in the children and families ARF serves.”

We’re excited to welcome Cord Shiflet to the Andy Roddick Foundation Board of Directors!

Cord Shiflet: “Being a proud 7th-generation Texan and born and raised Austinite, I care a lot about my community, especially the underserved. I’ve done a lot of work with foster children in the past 10 years, and it’s really opened my eyes to what happens when you expose children to opportunities. I love seeing kids understand there are options, opportunities, and people who care... and here’s a chance for them to do whatever they want in their lives.”

Swipe to continue traveling around the world with ARF—it’s Africa Week! 🌍✨

No phones. No screens. Just campers fully present—creating, exploring, and discovering the world together. 💙

ARF campers experienced the rich cultures, traditions, and innovations of Africa through hands-on learning. They explored the meaning behind Adinkra symbols, learned African dances during PE, decorated reusable bags while learning about sustainability, and cooked jollof rice—a beloved West African dish made with rice, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices that has been enjoyed for generations.

Did you know? Many countries across Africa are investing in wind energy to bring clean, renewable electricity to communities. Inspired by this innovation, campers designed and tested their own wind turbines during STEM, discovering how engineering can help solve real-world challenges.

To bring the week’s learning to life, campers visited the Johnson City Exotic Zoo, where they spotted zebras, camels, and many other incredible animals up close.

At ARF, we believe some of the best learning happens when young people unplug, stay curious, and fully engage with the world around them. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our Summer Learning Program is completely free for all youth, giving campers opportunities to broaden their horizons, embrace creativity, and build a lifelong love of learning—one continent at a time. 💙

Swipe to continue traveling around the world with ARF Summer Learning—it’s Europe Week! 🌍

ARF campers explored the rich cultures, traditions, and creativity of Europe through hands-on learning that brought the continent to life.

In Cooking, campers made delicious crêpes. 🍓 During PE, they learned the fundamentals of rugby. 🏉 In Community Service, they created beautiful mosaic gifts for their teachers, and in STEAM, they explored the work of famous European artists and sculptors before creating masterpieces of their own. 🎨

To wrap up the week, campers visited Laguna Gloria, where they wandered through the sculpture garden and experienced art in a whole new way. 🩵

At ARF, we believe every child deserves the chance to explore the world—even if they don’t have a passport. By sparking curiosity, creativity, and joy through immersive experiences, we’re helping youth broaden their horizons and discover a lifelong love of learning.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our Summer Learning Program is completely free for all youth, making these meaningful experiences possible all summer long. 💙

It’s National Summer Learning Week! ☀️📚

We’re celebrating the power of summer learning by continuing our Time Travel adventure into the 1910s—a decade of innovation, invention, and imagination.

🚗 Campers kicked off the week by learning how assembly lines changed the way cars were built, then used the engineering design process to build their own cardboard cars. Thanks to CarMax volunteers for lending a hand during build day, and to our ARF instructors who even 3D-printed custom parts, including screws, to help bring campers’ creations to life. Families joined us for a special “drive-in movie”, where campers showcased their creations.

🌱 In Community Service, campers learned about Victory Gardens, planted their own plants, and discovered how growing food helped families support their communities during wartime.

🍪 In Cooking, campers baked homemade Oreos from scratch—a treat first introduced in the 1910s. ARF camper Anele said she liked the homemade version even better!

📚 The Austin Public Library stopped by, giving campers the opportunity to pick out books to take home and keep the learning going beyond camp.

🏁 The week ended with a trip to Circuit of The Americas (COTA), where campers raced go-karts, designed their own mini racetracks, and built solar-powered cars, bringing a week of engineering and innovation full circle.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, ARF’s Summer Learning Program is completely free for all youth, creating opportunities for hands-on discovery all summer long. The curiosity fostered at ARF inspires a lifelong love of learning that extends far beyond the summer months. 💙
