Swipe to continue traveling around the world with ARF—it’s Africa Week! 🌍✨
No phones. No screens. Just campers fully present—creating, exploring, and discovering the world together. 💙
ARF campers experienced the rich cultures, traditions, and innovations of Africa through hands-on learning. They explored the meaning behind Adinkra symbols, learned African dances during PE, decorated reusable bags while learning about sustainability, and cooked jollof rice—a beloved West African dish made with rice, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices that has been enjoyed for generations.
Did you know? Many countries across Africa are investing in wind energy to bring clean, renewable electricity to communities. Inspired by this innovation, campers designed and tested their own wind turbines during STEM, discovering how engineering can help solve real-world challenges.
To bring the week’s learning to life, campers visited the Johnson City Exotic Zoo, where they spotted zebras, camels, and many other incredible animals up close.
At ARF, we believe some of the best learning happens when young people unplug, stay curious, and fully engage with the world around them. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our Summer Learning Program is completely free for all youth, giving campers opportunities to broaden their horizons, embrace creativity, and build a lifelong love of learning—one continent at a time. 💙
