ALK Positive Improving the life expectancy and quality of life for ALK-positive cancer patients worldwide.

What does survivorship mean when you're living with ALK-positive cancer?

Survivorship is about more than a diagnosis or treatment. It's about living, adapting, and finding ways to maintain quality of life along the way.

In this clip from our Season 7 premiere of ALKtALK, Dr. Eric Singhi, thoracic medical oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, shares his perspective on what cancer survivorship means for the ALK-positive community.

In the full conversation, Dr. Singhi also discusses building a multidisciplinary care team, advances in lung cancer research, and practical questions about TKIs, cancer progression, vaccines, and more.

Whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with ALK-positive cancer for years, this conversation offers valuable information and perspective on navigating life after diagnosis.

How could we find new cancer treatments faster?

ALK Positive is helping fund researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute who are tackling that question—with an approach they’re now applying to lung cancer.

The team developed a faster way to identify and test treatments that help immune cells recognise and destroy cancer cells. Their first results are in lymphoma, where an experimental treatment both flags cancer cells for attack and blocks a signal that protects them.

Why does this matter to our ALK community? We need more treatment options, and developing them starts with finding new ways to target cancer.

This is early laboratory and animal research, not yet a treatment for ALK-positive cancer. But it shows how research supported by our community can help explore possibilities across cancer types.

🔬 What’s next in ALK-positive cancer research?

Join us Sunday, Oct. 4 at 7 PM ET for a special ALKtALK with Dr. Ken Culver exploring the research, clinical trials, and collaborations helping shape what comes next for people living with ALK-positive cancer.

Dr. Culver will share updates on:
• New and emerging ALK research
• Clinical trials and expanding trial opportunities
• A new study exploring Zepbound for lorlatinib-associated weight gain
• The Global ALK Alliance and growing research collaborations

We’ll also share an early preview of Lung Cancer Awareness Month and how our community can get involved this November. 💜

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, exploring future treatment options, or simply want to stay informed, bring your questions and join us live.

A white ribbon can open a conversation that someone might otherwise never have. It can challenge assumptions about lung cancer, make someone feel seen and invite others to stand alongside them. 🤍

For six years, Heidi and Pierre have helped people around the world have those conversations through The White Ribbon Project. Congratulations on the anniversary, and thank you for the care you bring to this community.

We’re thrilled to see Dr Sydney Barned and Jaymie Knox join the leadership team. Their voices and lived experience will help carry this work forward.

With love from the ALK Positive community. đź’ś

IASLC World Congress on Lung Cancer never disappoints. From the research to the community - there is nothing like it.

Among the many great meetings we were proud of so many in our community who had major roles on the stage.

Our Executive Director & Medical Director Ken Culver was not only attending sessions to stay on top of the research, but meeting pharma and biotech companies to be sure we are pushing for our community.

On the closing day we held our first ALK Global Alliance meeting where we convened other national ALK groups - like ALK Positive Cancer Australia ALK Positive Belgium Alk Positive India ALK+ Lung Cancer UK Support | Empower | Advocate, ALK Spain, other broader lung cancer groups like Afectados Cáncer de Pulmón LEAP Singapore Oncogene Cancer Research, Move Against Cancer Africa Caleb Egwuenu, Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) Lung Cancer Europe ✧ European Lung Cancer Advocacy Network, One Step Japan - and various independent, amazing advocates like Sydney Barned MD | Dr Yola | Lung Cancer Shirley Muñoz Graciano and many more.

Beyond the research and the science, this week was about being stronger together, pushing for better outcomes for everyone and understanding we won’t stop until we have cures.

This is what we want research to make possible.

More time. More ordinary days. More appointments where someone living with stage 4 lung cancer gets to hear the words:

Chest clear. Brain clear.

We know that isn’t everyone’s reality. This week especially, our community is holding good news alongside immense sadness — mourning someone much loved, while others we care about are facing progression.

That’s why we keep pushing for research. For more effective treatments. More options when treatments stop working. And more people living longer and living well with lung cancer.

Yesterday, those precious words — chest clear, brain clear — were heard by our co-founder Yvonne, five years after her stage 4 ALK-positive lung cancer diagnosis and still on her first targeted therapy.

We’re incredibly grateful to Professor Sanjay Popat and to every researcher, clinician, patient and family helping move lung cancer research forward.

Here’s to more good news. For all of us. 🩵

Could lung cancer develop differently in younger adults?

Researchers Drs Chinmay Jani, Gilberto Lopes, Narjust Florez and colleagues have more reason to think so.

Many of us diagnosed younger wonder:

How did this happen?
Why now?
What does this mean for my future?

This research is helping open up new questions about what makes lung cancer in younger people different — including the specific biomarkers in the cancer itself, such as ALK, ROS1, EGFR, and others that can drive the disease — and what that could mean for the future.

While we don’t have all the answers yet, there are so many people — like those in these photographs — who are keen to see research bring all of us more time.

That’s why we keep asking questions.

The research will be presented at IASLC World Congress on Lung Cancer in Seoul on 14 September. Stay tuned.

Every breakthrough starts with research. Show your support. 🤍
