A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern early today, leaving at least fifteen people dead and injuring 129 others, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD). CARE Philippines is coordinating with local governments and disaster risk reduction authorities to assess needs and stand ready to support communities as the situation develops.

Today is the first day of the 2026 ⛈️

CARE is strengthening disaster response programs across the U.S. and working with women-led organizations to help families prepare, respond, and recover.

By 2030, CARE aims to reach 1 million people with emergency support, including new CARE PACKAGE kits filled with essentials for mothers and children.

Happy International Tea Day! 🫖

Tea is one of the most popular beverages in the world, but for Monica and others, it represents something more.

In 2023, CARE Tanzania and KAZI Yetu, with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies, established the Sakare Specialty Tea Company (SSTC), the first smallholder farmer-owned specialty tea factory in Tanzania to process its own orthodox (wholeleaf) black, green, and specialty teas on-site. Despite being unfamiliar with tea processing, Monica took a chance and applied for a job. And in October 2024, she was hired to become a processor.

“Back when I was at home, I couldn’t even write. But now I have skills. I’ve learned so much. I can write, I can read the units and teach my colleagues who are new.”
