A current project she’s working on is getting trauma care to those who need it most by distributing audio players pre-loaded with resources in several languages to help them heal. “Becoming a Christian radically changed the trajectory of my life,” Audrey says. “I went from living in sin and darkness—barely acknowledging God—to God becoming the center of my life.” With a heart shaped by her newfound faith and her Japanese heritage, Audrey now feels drawn to share the gospel in Japan. “I’m not scared to tell people about the Lord,” Joy says. “So, I was like, ‘Why not?’ If the Lord's going to send somebody, why wouldn't it be me?” Joy currently attends Ohio University, where she studies psychology and actively participates in an outreach program with her church. This summer she’s going to Thailand and Cambodia with Encompass to see if God might be calling her to long-term missions.
