We are so happy to be online with this timely Appen Media Garden Buzz column and conversing with you about the important topic of mosquito management.

We've loved the recent rains (and needed them!) but they do bring more than flowers. Mosquitos love any nook or cranny of sitting water to breed. We think you'll find Anne's insight into the pros and cons of various methods of prevention and control helpful as you think through what's an optimal process for your family.

Give the Master Gardeners/UGA Extension a call if you want to chat through your particular environment and allow us to help you work through some layers of action for managing these pests.
Let's don't let them steal our Summer Joy!

The Fulton County Master Gardener Volunteers are always digging horticulture. Come meet us at various spots this Summer. We'll be at Sandy Springs Farmers Market and Alpharetta Farmers Market throughout the rest of the Summer and early Fall.

Have questions about gardening? Come see our Master Gardener Volunteers at our Ask a Master Gardener Booth at the Alpharetta Farmers Market on listed Saturday mornings.

Out exploring on Saturday morning? Bring your children over to our Little Diggers Booth this Saturday at Sandy Springs Farmers Market. Our volunteers, led by Chris Ann Adams, always have an engaging nature-related activity for the kids!

On Saturday August 22nd we'll be at several of our demonstration gardens (and at our Little Diggers Booth at Sandy Springs Farmers' Market) throughout our beautiful Fulton County engaging with citizen scientists for the annual pollinator census. Come see us at any of the listed gardens and be a part of the study of biodiversity. You can also learn more about the UGA Extension Fulton County and the Master Gardener Volunteer program.

Are you a member or a horticultural group, a garden club, or another nature-based organization? We Master Gardeners love to share information on gardening. Check out our Speakers' Bureau on our website and let's start a conversation.

So sad. Walter came to do a question and answer time at Garden Faire one year when we were at Bulloch. And he taught many of us during our Master Gardener training. He will be greatly missed.

Unfortunately we lost a gardening icon today. Walter Reeves passed. I don’t think there is anyone who has influenced Georgia gardeners more than Walter has. A down to earth gardener whose passion was sharing his knowledge. I dare say Walter had gardening groupies. Any time he spoke at our nursery he brought a huge following with him. Thank you for all you have done for us gardeners over the years Walter.

Celebrate Earth Day, Native Plant Month, and the projected last day of frost at Garden Faire.-2026! North Fulton Master Gardeners will have many beautiful plants (native and introduced--but all curated from our Master Gardeners home gardens (or their seed table)), Georgia Native Plant Society-North Metro Atlanta Chapter will have so many lovely native plants, and Alpharetta Community Algricultural Program will have unique, heirloom and organic veggies grown at Old Rucker Farm (tumeric, anyone?). Come by, be a part of this community event, enjoy checking out the many plants and our many vendors and volunteers--oh and stop by our Garden Talks (9:30 and 11:30)--we have a few cool door prizes! We can't wait to see you!

You've heard of sensory overload--some say that's not a bad thing. So much joy about gardens are that you can be whisked away as your sight, sound, touch, and smells take you to places you've been before, or hope to be someday or again.

The wonder comes in the feelings evoked through our senses.

Joan takes you on a walk through a year of garden fragrances. Ahhh, the beach, the holidays, the prom in 19XX, the summer gazing at the clouds. The joys, the sadness, the victories, the defeats, the memories, the hopes! Sensory overload may be underrated.

Enjoy the read, and the memories evoked in the garden.

Jerry gives an insightful essay on the breadth of benefits for harvesting the power of rainfall.

In our Georgia summers that can sometimes be dry and extremely hot, us Southern gardeners and our plants appreciate the use of stored rainwater.
