It's been a big couple of months over here at Beacon! We had one member (not pictured) secure much needed in-home care, thanks to a collaboration with Providence Seaside Hospital, one member (not pictured) successfully complete an intensive 90-day detox/rehab program; he is holding strong with 4 months of clean and sober living, and TWO members (see below) secure new stable housing! Congrats Brian and Jack!!! Brian moved closer to his support network here in Astoria and Jack moved out of homelessness and into a new apartment 🤗 Shout out to Craig and Merrill over at CCA for genuinely caring about your clients and for assisting with these successes. It's Mental Health Awareness Month! I wanted to revive this video as a reminder that mental health challenges are complex, diverse, unique to the individual, and often masked as a survival tactic. Beacon would like to remind our community that kindness is free and that you won't know the full story until you ask. Most of us are fighting battles that no one knows about. Mental health challenges are common! Beacon believes in breaking down the stigma that's attached to mental health. We believe that Peer-Support is life changing and that everyone deserves to have safe spaces, and people, who support them without judgement.
