ARDMORE, OK — The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) Memorial Affairs Division will receive the remains of three unaccompanied veterans during a transport on Thursday, October 22, 2026. The event is part of the FOUND Project (Find Oklahoma’s Unclaimed National Defenders), a program to locate and inter veterans not claimed by family or representatives.
The remains will be escorted by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop F, Oklahoma Patriot Guard Riders, Combat Veterans MC (CVMA® Oklahoma Chapter 10-7), and Jamee Cassity, Director of Memorial Affairs. The remains will be transported to Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore. A committal service with military honors will follow.
U.S. Senator James Lankford will receive the ceremonial flag on behalf of the unaccompanied veterans.
The FOUND Project is a partnership between ODVA and funeral homes to identify cremated remains of veterans. Once military service is verified, ODVA arranges burial through state veterans cemeteries.
