Yesterday and today, our Leadership Institute cohort dove into their second module – Board Governance!

Facilitated by Josh Kilgas & JD Gildemeister of Solutions for Changemakers, our leaders explored why nonprofit boards exist, the responsibilities of a board and how they differ from that of the Executive Director, how to lead their boards through self-assessments and prioritizing needs, best practices and tools for effective board recruitment and member retention, and how to effectively connect the board to the mission of the organization they serve.

This morning we kicked off the summer session of BoardBound, our program designed to encourage individuals to become active and engaged board members within a nonprofit organization.

During today’s session, our participants dove into understanding what it means to be a ‘nonprofit’, the role the Board of Directors plays, and identified ways in which they could personally contribute to a board and how they might benefit doing so.

Next week, we’ll be exploring how each board is different, yet the same!
