This picture is said to be the only painting of Christopher Marlowe; however, it is only by tradition, as we don't know for certain. I look forward to seeing you at our reading of the play Kit Marlowe.

Save the Date: January 28th at 6:30 PM, we will meet at the Jim Toy Center to discuss and read from the play "Kit Marlowe" by David Grimm.

"Hungry for adventure and a way to make his mark, poet and playwright Christopher Marlowe became a spy for a dark wing of the British government and seals his hero Sir Walter Raleigh's fate and his own. Set in the seedy underworld of Elizabethan England, the story of the meteoric rise and fall of Kit Marlowe--playwright, poet, spy, and sexual outlaw (Q***r)--charts the ambitions of youth in a cold and unforgiving world." I've decided to postpone the play reading scheduled for October, as I haven't had time to prepare for it. Given the holidays, the next play reading will be in January. If anyone is interested in volunteering to help out or co-facilitating, I look forward to hearing from you. You can email me directly at [email protected]. Thanks, Kevin

Tomorrow (Monday) at 7 PM is our meeting to discuss and read Sagittarius Ponderosa. If you don't have the play yet, you can download it here: https://www.theatricalrights.com/show/sagittarius-ponderosa/

It is not a very long play, so you could be a last-minute read. I hope to see you there.

Archer (still Angela to his family) doesn’t want to move back to his childhood home in eastern Oregon when his father falls ill. But at night under the oldest Ponderosa Pine, he meets a stranger who knows the history of the forests and the sadness of losing endangered things. As Archer accepts big...

The Play Reading Group was established in March, offering an opportunity to discuss and perform group readings of dramatic literature that encompass a wide range of q***r experiences. Some incredible Q***r Literature is hidden in theater scripts, something that is not commonly read by people who are not directly engaged in theater.

In March, we read Vieux Carré, a lesser-known semi-autobiographical play by Tennessee Williams. In April, we explored Jane Chambers' Last Summer at Bluefish Cove, a landmark piece of le***an dramatic literature.

We begin our meetings by discussing the play and our impressions; however, if you haven't obtained the play or read it, don't let that stop you from attending. We then bring the script to life by conducting readings and providing opportunities for attendees to play different roles and explore the interactions between the various characters of the play.

Join us to explore luminaries like Tennessee Williams and Jane Chambers, as well as discover exciting new playwrights like M.J. Kaufman, the author of Sagittarius Ponderosa, which we will be exploring at the Jim Toy Community Center on September 22 at 7 PM.

*The Q***r Theater Project is an umbrella name that the Jim Toy Community Center has adopted to encourage experiences around Q***r Theater. The Play Reading Group is the first of these meetings; however, we encourage other groups to explore different facets of Q***r Theater.

Sagittarius Ponderosa: "Archer is not out to his family, but when his father falls ill, he has to move back to his childhood home in central Oregon. At night, under the oldest Ponderosa Pine, he meets a stranger who knows the history of the forest and the sadness of losing endangered things. As Archer accepts big changes in his family, he discovers the power of names, and the histories they make and mask. Saggittarius Ponderosa is a play about changing names, love positions, and tilling up the soil to make room for new growth.
