Hello film lovers and patrons of PFFs worldwide,

The Ann Arbor Palestine Film Festival regrets to announce that the 7th annual festival will not take place this upcoming Spring, 2018. After much deliberation, the Central Organizing Committee has made a difficult decision and is sad to send AAPFF into hiatus. We would like to thank our sponsors and acknowledge the work of the directors who generously submitted their films and made each festival possible. We hope the art and stories we were able to share each year has touched you as much as it has us, and we look forward to the return of AAPFF in the future.

Thank you all for your interest and support,
AAPFF's Central Organizing Committee

"In the midst of injustice, it is common for people to turn to art as a catalyst for social change. Art has been playing a major role in the fight for justice not only because of the sensory components but for its ability to draw in large audiences as well."

In the midst of injustice, it is common for people to turn to art as a catalyst for social change. Unfortunately, the masses have become desensitized to war, corruption, and violence; it is not enough to simply hear about injustice – we must feel it. Art has been playing a major role in the fight fo...

"Through the various types of media, the reader is drawn into the story, as emotionally packed image followed by heartbreaking video pushes through the screen in order to attach faces, possessions, and memories to families that might otherwise exist only as a harrowing statistic."

will be screening "Gaza A Gaping Wound" on Saturday, April 1st at 4:30PM at the Rackham Amphitheater.

A new project uses heartbreaking photos, text and video to tell the stories of the Palestinian families who lost more than three members in the 2014 Gaza war, the stories of their lives, their deaths…

"Seamstress is a 42-minute multimedia and interdisciplinary documentary song-cycle based on the collected oral histories of Palestinian women and girls. Blending audio interviews, photography, and raw and archival footage with live chamber orchestra and dance performances, Seamstress aims to create a moving and powerful portrait of love, strength, and resistance in the face of injustice and misinformation."

Check out 's screening of Seamstress on Sunday, April 1st at 1pm at the UMMA: University of Michigan Museum of Art, followed by a talk-back with director Donia Jarrar.

Donia's newest website on her project showcases the photographs, oral histories, transcriptions, etc. Check it out for more information on her film.

Hello everyone!

We've had to make a small schedule change for our Saturday, April 1st showings. Our Saturday matinee with Gaza, A Gaping Wound and Yallah! Underground has been moved back to 4:30PM (in the same location). The 7PM showing with the Reel Stories shorts, Speed Sisters, and Reel Stories talk-back remain at the same time.

Due to the inconvenience and short turn-over between the two showings, anyone who attends our 4:30PM matinee will be able to attend the evening showing for free!

We apologize for any inconvenience in scheduling change, and hope to see you this weekend for !

An updated poster with the new times is coming shortly!

"That Hussein is able to wrest his home from an Israeli state otherwise busy destroying Palestinian homes is the coup de grâce in this skillfully crafted film. As he walks by the new Israeli exhibit featuring “King Solomon’s Stone” along the walls of the Old City, it is Hussein who has the last laugh."

Check out 's showing of "Soloman's Stone" on Friday, March 31st at 6pm at Rackham Amphitheater.

Ramzi Maqdisi’s black-comedy short, “Solomon’s Stone,” could be considered a parable of present-day Jerusalem and the nationalistic politics fueling the violent dynamic between Israel a…

We are extremely honored to feature this beautiful design by Watan in our upcoming festival. Check out their page for more of their beautiful work! We will also be carrying Watan's items at our merchandise booth throughout the weekend!

We had such fun working on this illustration for this year's run. A little backstory -- the building featured in this illustration was the famed Al-Hambra Theatre in Yaffa. Opened in 1937, it hosted both films and performances, including Egyptian singers Oum Kalthoum and Farid Al-Atrash. After the Nakba, it interchanged a few hands (😒) and after a few decades, sat empty. Today, it's been refurbished and used instead as a Church of Scientology (😒😒😒😒😒😒). Here's our way of paying homage to its illustrious history and reclaiming it as throughly Palestinian. We also intended to emphasize the role Palestinian film festivals, like this one in Ann Arbor, play in supporting Palestinian filmmaking. So if you're in Michigan on March 30th to April 2nd, be sure to book your tickets for an awesome lineup of films! Go to 's bio to find a link to their site and their tickets.
