From MLive: Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation has announced it will install an "interim stabilization measure" that will allow the Border-to-Border Trail to reopen while the city evaluates potential long-term solutions.

Big crowd at last night's Downtown Ann Arbor (Ann Arbor DDA) open house to discuss the Division St. Bikeway Extension!

Lots of Ann Arborites want to make sure the Broadway Bridge corridor is as safe and convenient as possible for everyone -- cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers -- who travels it regularly.

Pedestrian and bicycle safety advocates aired their concerns with the Ann Arbor City Council on Tuesday night after a ride and rally.

Less than two weeks after a pedestrian was critically injured in a crash on Huron Street (right in front of City Hall), Cassandra Shamey, Mark Scerbo, Ed Vielmetti, and Kirk Westphal urged the Ann Arbor City Council to improve safety measures for pedestrians and cyclists.

On Sept. 10, a woman was critically injured by a car turning left from Fifth Ave. onto Huron St.

This latest crash reinforces the importance of the Ann Arbor Roadway Rightsizing (A2R2) project and more urgent negotiations with MichiganDOT to take control of Huron St. and implement safety improvements.

Join us Tuesday, Sept. 22, as we urge the Ann Arbor City Council to address this urgent problem:
● Safety advocates on bicycles will meet at Division and Packard at 5:45pm and ride to City Hall to join our rally at 6:30pm.
● We'll attend the meeting at 7pm. Pizza provided!
● You can sign up to speak at the meeting, either in person or via Zoom, by calling the clerk's office from 8am-4pm Tuesday: (734) 794-6140.
● Email or call your Council representatives! Personal stories carry a lot of weight.
● Spread the word! Big numbers make a big impression.

MDOT says it supports safe and accessible transportation for all; this is an opportunity for MDOT to commit to that support in writing, as they draft their 25-year transportation priorities plan.

You may have noticed that the proposed Division Street Bikeway Extension overlaps with the footprint of the Ann Arbor Roadway Rightsizing (A2R2) project.

These projects provide an important opportunity to improve safety and connectivity for people walking and riding bicycles—but the final outcome will depend in part on the feedback decision-makers receive from people like you!

If you support these safety improvements, you can help by:
● Attending today's walking tour or the Sept. 23 open house at Downtown Ann Arbor (Ann Arbor DDA) HQ;
● Providing comments and feedback to the project team;
● Emailing A2 Council ([email protected]) to let them know you support safer designs; and
● Speaking during public comment at an upcoming City Council meeting.

This is an opportunity to help shape what these streets will look like for years to come. If you want safer streets, now is the time to speak up!
