Well since we postponed our Florida vacation, due to weather, this is just one way to relax. Pella Community Ambulance Named 2026 Iowa EMS Service of the Year!

We’re excited to share that Pella Community Ambulance has been named the 2026 Iowa EMS Service of the Year! We will receive this recognition at the IEMSA Conference on November 14 at the Iowa Events Center.

This award recognizes our efforts to strengthen EMS in our community and surrounding areas through several initiatives:

• EMS Education: Becoming a training center to educate and prepare EMTs and AEMTs to serve our communities.
• Work-Life Balance: Implementing a 24/72 work schedule to better support our employees.
• Mental Health Support: Providing daily access to crisis canines at the station and mental health check-ins through First Response Therapy.
• Community Outreach: Bringing crisis canines into the community to support connection and well-being.

We’re proud to see these efforts recognized and grateful for the people who continue to make them possible. This award reflects our ongoing commitment to our employees, our profession, and the communities we serve.

We send our deepest condolences

It is with heavy hearts that the Iowa County Sheriff's Office joins the Muscoda Police Department and the entire Muscoda community in mourning the unexpected passing of Officer Kate Fleischauer.

Officer Fleischauer dedicated 12 years of her life to serving and protecting others. Her passing is a tremendous loss, not only to the Muscoda Police Department, but to the entire law enforcement and emergency services family.

The Village of Muscoda is unique in that it serves a community within multiple counties, including Iowa County. Over the years, our agencies have worked side by side, assisting one another through mutual aid, responding to emergencies, and serving the people who depend on us. We are more than neighboring agencies. We are partners, colleagues, and members of the same law enforcement family.

During this incredibly difficult time, the Iowa County Sheriff's Office stands firmly beside Chief Bill Schramm, the members of the Muscoda Police Department, and the entire Village of Muscoda.

Our commitment to you is unwavering. Whether it is providing personnel, resources, assistance with daily operations, or simply being there for one another, we will do whatever we can to support your department and community in the days and weeks ahead.

When tragedy strikes one of our own, jurisdictional boundaries and county lines mean nothing. We come together, we support one another, and we make sure no agency has to navigate these difficult moments alone.

To Officer Fleischauer's family, friends, fellow officers, and everyone whose life she touched, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Rest easy, Officer Fleischauer. Thank you for your 12 years of dedicated service. We will stand beside those you leave behind.

This caught our eyes today. Please take notice, it’s another way and a good way for a loved one to honor their loss. It matters.

Eight years after his tragic passing, the Earling Fire and Rescue Volunteer Fire Department is once again flying its flag at Highway 37 and Hazel Road in memory of former Chief Tom “Doc” Henrich.

Henrich dedicated more than 30 years to protecting his community before suffering a fatal cardiac event while responding to a combine and field fire on October 20, 2018.

His sacrifice was later honored at both the state and national levels, recognizing a lifetime of service and dedication.

The flag will remain flying for the next week near the location of his final emergency call
