Focuss

Focuss was created in 2015, we are a Non Profit 5013c.

Our team Focuses on educating and empowering our youth with the skills to succeed in life and to attain their greatest potential. Objective-Create opportunities to teach our youth responsibility, teamwork, and financial stability to be successful leaders among family, friends and in the community. Our program will prepare them for real-life challenges such as job interviews, appropriate attire, body language, healthy living habits, financials, and positive relationship goal.

While preparing the new Youth Crisis Center in Newton, we came across several Elk’s Lodge jackets with members’ names on them.

We understand that these jackets may hold special memories and sentimental value for the individuals who owned them or their loved ones. We would like to help reunite these items with their rightful owners or family members.

If you believe one of these jackets belongs to you or a family member, please contact us. We simply ask that anyone claiming a jacket provide some form of proof or identification so we can ensure the items are returned to the correct person.

Please feel free to share this post to help us reach former members and their families. We would love to see these meaningful items returned to the people they belong to.

FOCUSS is reaching out to our community for support as we continue building a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed Youth Crisis Observation Center for youth in need.

We are currently seeking donations of the following items:

• 5 Twin Beds
• Twin Bed Sheets
• Blankets and Throw Blankets
• Pillows
• Lockers
• Wall Art
• Nice-Sized TV
• Laptops
• Desktop Computers
• Desks
• Socks (new)
• Hygiene Items
• Microwave
• Paper Plates and Bowls
• Plastic Silverware Exercise Equipment

We are also looking for connections to any used medical equipment warehouses or suppliers in the area that may be willing to donate items to help us care for youth safely and effectively.

Today was a special and emotional moment for FOCUSS as we officially revealed the naming of the new FOCUSS Youth Crisis Observation Center #2 in Newton, Iowa after two incredible men — Andy Dannen and Dwight Jackson.

Their impact has changed lives, and it was only right that their legacy be forever connected to a place focused on helping young people through crisis, healing, and hope.

Family, friends, and community members gathered together to witness the unveiling and see what the signs with their names will look like inside the new center.

The evening was filled with great conversations, laughter, appreciation, and light refreshments as we celebrated two men who have poured so much into others.

This new Newton location will become FOCUSS’ second Youth Crisis Observation Center, continuing our mission to support youth and families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Thank you, Andy Dannen and Dwight Jackson, for leadership, mentorship, compassion, and commitment to better communities, families youth and much more . Your names will now forever be part of a place built to change lives.

The vision may be mine, but the people i met along the journey — good, bad, or indifferent — makes the vision clearer, fine-tuned, and focused.

We acknowledge and celebrate those on our walls for: being leaders and hard workers; steadfast in their communities; and more importantly, good humans. Yes, good humans.

Even if we bumped heads, it’s not personal. I’m just passionate, I was the kids , we are trying to help.

Thanks to those who listened when i just needed to talk. Thanks to those who talked when I needed to listen.

Thanks to those who didn't give up on a vision they didn’t yet see. However, they still believed in me, and thanks for trusting me.

Thanks to those who said “no” which made me push harder as well as be more proud, resilient, and honorable.

Thanks to those who showed me grace as it taught me patience and to be humble (even more in the hard times).

The photos on the walls are a reminder that there are still good people, not perfect people as none of us are, but still definitely good humans.
