On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther’s Ninety-Five Theses helped ignite the Protestant Reformation.

The Reformation involved complicated people, events, and disagreements, but one of its enduring concerns remains essential: Does our teaching rest on human authority and tradition, or can it be faithfully grounded in Scripture?

Every generation inherits beliefs and practices it is tempted to accept without examination.

Respect history. Learn from faithful teachers. Listen humbly to the church. But keep returning to the Word of God as the final standard by which every teaching must be tested.

The Bible tells us to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. Christian thinking is not opposed to Christian devotion. Asking difficult questions, examining evidence, and studying Scripture carefully can all be acts of worship.

At the same time, knowledge can become a source of pride if it does not produce humility, love, and obedience. The goal is not simply to win arguments or collect information. It is to know God more truly and follow Him more faithfully.

Can morality exist without God?

People with many different worldviews can recognize right and wrong and live morally admirable lives. The deeper question is not whether someone can behave morally without believing in God.

The question is whether objective moral duties have a sufficient foundation if reality is ultimately impersonal and purposeless. When we say something is truly evil, not merely unpopular or inconvenient, we are appealing to a standard beyond personal preference.

What should we do when prayer seems to go unanswered?

Scripture does not treat unanswered prayer as a simple problem with a simple explanation. Sometimes God’s answer is delayed. Sometimes His answer is different from what we requested. Sometimes we may never understand His purposes in this life.

Even Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but yours, be done.”

Prayer is not a formula for controlling outcomes. It is an act of trust in the character and wisdom of God, even when His answer is difficult.

It is an understandable objection. Many people have been deeply wounded by those who claimed to follow Christ while living in ways that contradicted His teaching.

Christianity does not claim that Christians are morally perfect. It claims that sinners need grace, forgiveness, and transformation.

Hypocrisy in the church should never be excused. But the failures of Jesus’ followers do not determine whether Jesus Himself is worthy of trust.

Our faith ultimately rests in Christ, not in the flawless behavior of Christians.

Why does God ask questions if He already knows the answers?

Throughout Scripture, God asks questions. Not because He lacks information, but because the people answering need to confront the truth.
His questions expose motives, invite confession, correct assumptions, and call people to respond in faith.

Sometimes the most important part of Bible study is not simply asking questions of the text. It is allowing the text to question us.

Does faith mean believing without evidence?

Biblical faith is not a leap into the dark. Christianity is rooted in claims about real events, including the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

The apostles did not ask people to believe merely because belief felt comforting. They pointed to eyewitness testimony, fulfilled prophecy, and events they believed had taken place in history.

Faith goes beyond evidence, but it does not require us to ignore evidence.

Everyone has a worldview. It shapes how we define truth, understand human dignity, make moral decisions, and interpret what happens around us. The question is not whether we have one. The question is whether it can withstand careful examination.
