2 ARCHERY DATES IN OCTOBER 🏹

Come join Wounded Heroes for our next 2 Archery days on Sunday October 5th and Saturday October 11th from 12-2pm. The events will be held at the Archery Range at Saylorville Lake - Water Ave, Johnston IA 50131.

You do not need to be a Veteran to join us. Bring your spouse and your kids too! All ages welcome and equipment will be provided.

Des Moines area Veteran friends…Legacy Fitness in Ankeny is hosting Free Yoga for Veterans, Active Duty, and First Responders every Sunday afternoon at 4pm. You do not need to be a gym member to attend the class.

I had done yoga in the past and knew it was good for my old beat up body, but last year I really committed to it daily in the mornings and it helped not only my body, but my mood and mindset.

Elisabeth and I will be there the first week Sunday, June 8th. Come join us!

We had so much fun at our archery 🏹 event last Sunday! The weather was perfect ☀️ And the youngest participants showed us all how it was done!

Veterans Day is coming up! Can you help me raise some funds for nonprofits that directly help our warriors?

I am the Co-Founder/CEO of an Iowa local Veterans nonprofit called Wounded Heroes. We lead combat trauma recovery courses, host archery & hunting events, and this past year we moved into providing hormone replacement therapy for Veterans. The VA will not pay for this and there are so many Veterans who have significant hormone issues due to TBi from IED explosions and/or blast exposures. It costs us roughly $2500 per Veteran per year to provide HRT. Can you help me raise $5000 to get two more veterans into our program in 2025?

Event pictures are here! On Saturday we hosted our annual Mogadishu Mile event at Camp Dodge. We paid tribute to the men who sacrificed their lives, along with all those who were wounded in Somalia during the Battle of Mogadishu on October 3, 1993. The workout includes 3 rounds of:
19 ground to overhead plate lifts
19 squats
19 pushups
73 second planks

Followed by a 1 mile run/walk

The number 3 represents the men of B Co. 3rd Ranger Battalion. The number 19 represents the 19 men who gave their lives. The number 73 represents the 73 men of Task Force Ranger, who were wounded.

We were honored to have 80 participants this year 🇺🇸 It was another amazing turnout.

Wounded Heroes is very excited to share that we are hosting the Mogadishu Mile at Camp Dodge again this year 🇺🇸

Registration cost is $25. You must register by Sunday, September 22nd to guarantee a tshirt. This is a family friendly event, & children are free 🙌🏻

You can register for multiple people when you check out. For example, if you are registering for you, your spouse & your 2 children - add 2 adult registrations for $25 each, but you can also the 2 children’s shirts for free.

Profits from the fundraising event go to Wounded Heroes to provide hormone replacement therapy & mentoring Veterans as they transition to civilian life.

WHY:
Join us to honor the heroic actions of Task Force Ranger and remembrance of the fallen warriors of Operation Gothic Serpent. On October 3rd, 1993 in Somalia, daylight combat operations began in the afternoon and did not end until the final Ranger element departed the city of Mogadishu on the morning of October 4th, ending in a running gun battle that has become known as The Mogadishu Mile (depicted in the movie Black Hawk Down).

WHEN:
Saturday October 5th, 2024 – 10 heats of 20 participants each, beginning at 8am and ending at 11:20.

Wounded Heroes 2nd Annual Deer Hunt 🦌

We had the best day yesterday at the 2nd Annual Wounded Heroes Deer Hunt in Corydon, IA. We started off with some target practice and confirmed our zeroes so we were ready for the hunt. Then we had some lunch and got in the blinds. Everyone was successful and got a deer! We finished off the day with a delicious dinner prepared by our hosts. It was such a great day!
