Awesome group effort today by fabulous volunteers… we are ready for almost 100 kids to “shop” for their camp items so they can head to a week of overnight camp in June or July.

A couple of weeks ago, we encouraged some of our Women of the World friends to come hear about opportunities and support for refugee businesses in Des Moines. Our friend Amina, who makes the Dubai Chocolate Baklava and her son Khalid came and met the mayor. ☺️

Thanks to everyone who comes to the farmers market stands and events. With your support, the refugee women of Women of the World and their families feel encouraged and empowered to dream of big things.

The Sacred Heart Women’s Guild does great things, including supporting DMRS each year with a grant to help us run our programs ❤️

Did you know the Sacred Heart Women's Guild has a group of women who help prepare & provide meals to the St. Mark's Neighborhood Fridge on a monthly basis? Contact Rachel Ong for more details or if you would like to help.

Also, if you are hosting a graduation party or have leftover food from any event, please keep the St. Mark's Neighborhood Fridge in mind. All your leftovers can be brought directly to the Neighborhood Fridge at 1105 Grand Avenue or feel free to call or text 515-635-4962 and someone will pick up the food items and deliver them to the Fridge. They can even repackage any food items brought to the Fridge. If you would like to learn more about this food pantry serving the West Des Moines community, please contact Darryl at the St. Mark's Neighborhood Fridge.

Shout out to this awesome group (plus a few more who snuck out before the photo was snapped) who spent their Memorial Day organizing camp items for our almost 100 campers who will be headed to a week of sleep away camp this summer!!

DMSC teammates continue to be rivals as high school teams enter Sub state soccer. DMRS has lots of kids at North and Hoover especially, but also at Roosevelt, East, and Lincoln, plus Valley, Urbandale and Johnston!

Are you doing some cleanout this holiday weekend? Or maybe taking advantage of some holiday specials?

We have a high need for the following items:
Bath towels, hand towels and washcloths
Bed comforters, especially twin size
Shower curtains and liners
Kitchen dishcloths and hot pads
Kitchen utensils (silverware sets, spatulas, large spoons, measuring cups and spoons, etc.)
Small kitchen appliances (mixers, blenders, crockpots, coffee pots, etc.)
Pots and pans, especially medium-large sizes
Bakeware (cookie sheets, pizza pans, baking dishes, 9 x 13 pans)
Glass bakeware (such as – Pyrex)
Tupperware and other plastic storage containers
Couches and loveseats

One of the greatest things about DMRS is getting to support a child in some big or small way and then watch them fly. We got to see so many of “our kids” graduate from high school this weekend - the next step on their journey. So proud of all of them!!
