This week, Clayton and Roni attended the 2026 Greater Des Moines Partnership Regional Summit + Economic Impact Awards!

Clayton joined the Global Talent: A Roundtable Discussion as a panelist, contributing to important conversations about global talent and its role in strengthening our workforce and regional economy.

The summit brought together community, business, and civic leaders from across urban, suburban, and rural communities to share ideas, build meaningful connections, and explore opportunities to move Greater DSM USA forward.

Thank you to the Greater Des Moines Partnership for bringing leaders together to help shape the future of our region!

We are incredibly grateful to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa and its Women’s Fund for supporting LSI’s work in Black Hawk County!

Together, these generous awards provide $20,000 to support LSI’s early childhood services and Child Care Business Development Program.

The $15,000 award from the Community Foundation will help provide resources and support that strengthen young children and families. The Women’s Fund’s $5,000 award will support outreach events and client assistance for immigrant and refugee women working to establish and strengthen their in-home child care businesses.

Thank you to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa and Women’s Fund for investing in children, women, child care, and stronger communities! 💙

🇺🇸 Honoring Those Who Served: Molly 🇺🇸

As part of our LSI Veterans Campaign, we are proud to recognize Molly, a Support Caseworker at Lutheran Services in Iowa, and her 9 years of service in the Minnesota Army National Guard.

Molly enlisted during her junior year of high school and completed Basic Training that summer. After graduating high school in 2006, she continued her military training before being assigned to the 1-125th Field Artillery Unit out of Luverne, Minnesota. She later transferred to a medical support unit with Charlie Company, where she attended Warrior Leader Course in Ashland, Nebraska, and was promoted to Sergeant (E5).

Molly deployed to Kosovo for 6 months as an E5 replacement, serving her country while developing the leadership and resilience that continue to shape her work today.

At LSI, Molly serves as a Support Caseworker, helping individuals connect with resources, navigate challenges and access the support they need. Her commitment to serving others continues well beyond her time in uniform.

We are grateful for Molly’s service and for the compassion and dedication she brings to her work at LSI.

Exciting News from LSI Ames!

Our Ames team is moving to a new office location this week.

We will be closed Thursday and Friday while we get settled into our new space.

Beginning October 1, refugees who have been legally resettled in Iowa but have not yet received lawful permanent resident (green card) status will no longer qualify for Medicaid under the new federal rules. Iowa HHS says refugees without a green card will lose Medicaid eligibility beginning October 1, 2026.

This change could leave pregnant refugees without the health coverage they need during pregnancy.

You can help.

📞 Call the Governor’s Office at 515-281-5211 and ask Governor Reynolds to extend medical coverage to pregnant refugees in Iowa. The Governor’s Office accepts comments and concerns by phone Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
