LSI is one of Iowa's largest nonprofit human services agencies providing community services since 1864.

The services we provide span a wide range – from therapy and intensive crisis intervention with families, to residential treatment for children and teens, to community supports for people of refugee status and persons with disabilities.

LSI was honored to join the Ukrainian community in Ames on August 23rd for the Ukrainian Independence Day Celebration. It was wonderful to see families and community members come together to celebrate Ukrainian culture, traditions, food, and heritage.

We’re proud to celebrate LSI’s impact on a national stage! 🌟

In July, we were honored to have an LSI presenter selected to speak at the Innovative Schools Summit in **Las Vegas, Nevada, and Nashville, Tennessee**, as part of the Wired Differently/Trauma-Informed Schools Conference.

The presentations highlighted LSI’s trauma-informed work with justice-involved youth in juvenile detention centers, including the use of trauma screening and assessment tools to identify needs, guide treatment, and improve outcomes for youth impacted by trauma.

Both sessions reached full capacity, with **150 attendees in Las Vegas and 160 in Nashville**. More than 300 educators, school counselors, administrators, mental health professionals, and youth-serving practitioners came together to learn about trauma-informed assessment, intervention strategies, and LSI’s innovative work supporting vulnerable youth.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share LSI’s expertise with a national audience and contribute to the growing conversation around trauma-informed care, resilience, healing, and positive outcomes for youth. 💙

Staff had a great time connecting with the community and sharing resources at Black Women 4 Healthy Living over the weekend in Des Moines!

Thank you Polk County Iowa Board of Supervisors! Their generous funds will support LSI’s Immigrant and Refugee Child Care Business Development Program, supporting Polk County women operating their own in-home childcare businesses. This program works to address the lack of affordable and accessible childcare across Polk County.
