SWE Greatland SWE Greatland is Anchorage's local chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. The Greatland Section includes members throughout Alaska.

We're a group of women professionals who came together in 1989. We meet about once a month to network, learn, go over society business, grow, and support each other. We engineer for state, federal and local governments, A/E design firms and industry (especially oil and gas). Entrepreneurs among us run their own businesses. We are moms, wives, and singles who enjoy a wide range of activities. We enjoy giving back to the community by working with schools, Girl Scouts, and other engineering societies during Engineers' Week.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! As I read and listen to my Alaska Native friends’ reflections on this day, I find the theme of community mentioned again and again. A reminder that our connections – to our current community, to our ancestors, and to our future generations – matter. That we are gifted with the privilege of these connections. What a sacred duty and a beautiful reminder of how much we need one another.
