Now is the time to participate in the Kincaid Park Master Plan! This plan will shape long-term development, use, and management at the park. You can learn more about the Master Plan process and take the user survey at https://www.muni.org/Departments/parks/Pages/KincaidMP.aspx

You can also attend the Open House this evening, Thursday, May 28th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Kincaid Chalet.

STA has the following priorities for the trail network that you may share at the open house and in the survey:
- more connectivity with our existing trails that can give the rider smaller loops
- more downhill specific trails with optional advanced features
- a bike skills park near the Jodhpur trailhead

Thank you Volunteers - more trails are ready to ride!

Kincaid:
All of Kincaid is OPEN!

Service Singletrack:
Partial opening of Service Singletrack. There are wheel-sucking soft spots still on Millertime and Whack-a-Mole, so those need some more time to harden up.

Hillside and Chugach State Park Trails:
These trails still need to dry out. Thank you for staying off of them to avoid ruts and damage.

Enjoy the OPEN trails!

Check out the calendar on Trail Crew webpage for upcoming volunteer trail crews!

Dear STA Supporters,
Please submit comments by May 30th if you care about maintaining trail access in East Anchorage.

URGENT: Public trail access threatened in East Anchorage: your voice is needed by May 30.

JBER has released a draft environmental assessment proposing a chain-link fence topped with barbed wire along the East Muldoon/JBER boundary from the Glenn Highway to Stuckagain Heights. This would significantly restrict public access to recreational areas that Anchorage residents have used for decades.

Details:

- Alternatives exist: wildlife-permeable fencing, sensors, and designated wildlife crossings, but aren't currently proposed.
- The proposal is open for public comment until May 30.

How to submit comments:
• Email: [email protected]
• Review the full environmental assessment: https://www.jber.jb.mil/Services-Resources/Environmental/Environmental-Planning/
• Direct PDF link:https://www.jber.jb.mil/Portals/144/Services-Resources/environmental/JBER_Perimeter_Security_Draft_EA_compiled_April_2026_508.pdf

Trail access isn't something we can take for granted. It's protected by people who show up, review proposals like this one, and submit thoughtful comments. Thanks to Senator Giessel and Bill Wielechowski for raising this issue! Please take a few minutes before May 30 to make your voice heard!
