Arctic Entries

Arctic Entries Arctic Entries is a live storytelling event in Anchorage, featuring 7 of your friends and neighbors. Let Arctic Entries warm you with great homegrown stories.

In the spirit of "This American Life" and other urban storytelling events, Arctic Entries brings Alaskans to the stage to share their personal stories, funny, sad, and sweet. At each performance, 7 people each tell a 7-minute true story relating to this show’s theme, along with performances by local musicians. Monthly performances from September-May at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Anchorage, Alaska. Proceeds from each season go to a selected non-profit partner.

Secretly have a crush on your hot ski buddy? Worried about bumping into an ex at Myrna's? Trying to define the rules of a no-strings summer fling with a seasonal worker who leaves when the snow returns? Curious about opening your relationship, exploring a kink or finally telling your partner what you actually want in bed?

You're in luck: The Anchorage Press is launching an Alaska-themed s*x and dating advice column! The premise is simple: Ask us anything about love, s*x or dating in Alaska, and we'll give you (and all of our readers) guidance from three different experts. Or, rather, two experts and one normie journalist. We'll keep you anonymous—though some relevant details might help.

Please limit submissions to 250 words. And it'd be great if you could provide a little background along with your question. For example, if you're wondering whether to break up with your boyfriend, tell us how long you've been dating, how long he's been emotionally unavailable (😔) and any other info you think would be good for us to know. Don't hold back — but do tell the truth!

And this makes 7! Introducing the last storyteller in April's cast, Ben!
Ben Greene grew up climbing mountains and running amok in Colorado before relocating to Alaska some 30+ years ago. He’s lived & worked in Fairbanks, Bethel, Barrow (aka Utqiagvik), and Anchorage focusing on natural resource & environmental impact topics. Ben truly believes mountains are alive. As living, sacred beings, he gives them permission to move on occasion—even if we happen to be inconveniently, sometimes tragically, in their way
