Today, AKAPT honors the life and enduring professional legacy of Dr. Garry Landreth. His work has profoundly shaped the field of Child-Centered Play Therapy and continues to guide clinicians around the world.

Dr. Landreth’s commitment to honoring the child’s inner world—through presence, acceptance, and the healing power of play—has transformed how many of us understand therapeutic relationship and emotional expression in children. His teachings continue to invite clinicians to slow down, trust the process, and meet children exactly where they are.

Dr. Landreth’s influence lives on in therapy rooms, training spaces, and in the quiet, meaningful moments where children are fully seen and deeply heard.
May we continue to carry forward play therapy with integrity, curiosity, and care.
