At ACT, capacity building means investing in organizational resilience, well-being, and trust-based philanthropic practices that help nonprofits thrive long-term. Since 2005, ACT has invested more than $2M in capacity-building grants to Alexandria nonprofits.

As part of our commitment to equity, ACT takes a trust-based approach to grantmaking that helps break down traditional power dynamics between funders and grantees, creating a collaborative environment that supports listening, learning, and true partnership.

This legislative session, ACT for Alexandria partnered with local and state leaders to help advance key wins that support housing stability, including changes that make it easier for Alexandrians at risk of eviction to access eviction diversion support and remain in their homes.

These state-level policy changes are a critical piece of the puzzle, working alongside the daily efforts of nonprofits and community partners, to strengthen the economic well-being of Alexandrians.
