CARE Philippines is hiring for Project PARAW in Palawan

Two roles, one project: building women-led coastal livelihoods and community disaster preparedness with fisherfolk households in Araceli and Dumaran.

🔹 COASTAL RESILIENCE PROJECT MANAGER

Lead delivery of two linked coastal projects — Fisher Field and Business School training cycles, women's savings groups and collectives, seed capital, and community disaster preparedness. You'll lead the Palawan field team, manage the partnership with ACCORD and local governments, hold the budgets, and share what works with CARE's wider network. Minimum 5 years managing community-based livelihoods or disaster risk reduction projects, including supervising field staff.

🔹 PROTECTION, GENDER AND INCLUSION OFFICER

Lead gender, disability and inclusion work and safeguarding across the project — norm change sessions, women's leadership, the community feedback system, referral pathways for survivors, and quarterly safeguarding checks. Minimum 3 years in gender, protection, safeguarding or social inclusion work.

Both roles are full-time, project-based, and based in Palawan with regular travel to remote coastal communities. Excellent English and Filipino required; a local Palawan language is an advantage.

At the 200th National Climate Forum, CARE Philippines stood with PAGASA, DOST, and local government partners on what science can do when it reaches the people who need it most.

Most of CARE's work happens where forecasts end up: evacuation centers, barangay halls, homes where a mother is counting how many days the rice will last. PAGASA does its part when the forecast comes out. The rest of us have to do ours, so families can act on it.

Anticipatory action allows us to act on forecasts before disaster strikes, not just after. We bring what we hear from communities into that work, so national plans match what families actually face.

CARE will keep working alongside partners so that every forecast from this forum turns into action in the community.

Our teams reached Balut Island with CARE PACKAGE® for Emergencies (CP4E) in the last week of August, weeks after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook Sarangani. At the time, several families have lost their homes to the earthquake and the tsunami. Aftershocks were still ongoing.

"We have a tarp we can use for our sleeping area because there are still aftershocks here," shared Pearly, a resident of Balut Island.

In this video, she and other families share what it meant to have CP4Es close by.

CP4E was built for exactly this: the stretch of time after a disaster when the emergency does not end in one day, and neither does the need.

PhilFIDA and CARE Philippines mark five years of partnership in advancing the abaca industry and supporting abaca farming communities in Catanduanes.

Through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), both organizations reaffirm their commitment to strengthening abaca productivity, market opportunities, value-adding, and livelihood opportunities for abacaleros.

PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza underscored the importance of collaboration and collective action in strengthening the abaca industry, with PhilFIDA Regional Office V, led by OIC-Regional Director Mary Anne R. Molina, continuing to work with CARE Philippines and local stakeholders in supporting abaca communities.

Together, PhilFIDA and CARE Philippines continue to work toward a stronger, more sustainable, and inclusive abaca industry.

CALL FOR CONSULTANTS: Senior Private Sector Engagement Consultant, Commercialization and Deal Origination

Have you personally closed paid B2B deals with Philippine companies? CARE Philippines wants to work with you.

We're looking for an experienced deal-maker to help us originate, structure and close private sector partnerships, mainly fee-for-service and implementation partnerships. These deals will connect companies with the women-, youth- and smallholder-led enterprises we work with.

This isn't a strategy role. The strategy is done, and the job is to close deals: validate what companies will pay for, package and price the offer, negotiate terms, and coach our team to carry the work forward.

🗓️ Start: No later than 1 November 2026
⏱️ Level of effort: About 100 days, ending no later than 30 June 2027
📍 Location: Must be based in the Philippines

Who we're looking for:

✔️ A verifiable record of closing fee-for-service or shared-value agreements with companies in the Philippines
✔️ Direct access to corporate budget holders in commercial, procurement, sustainability or CSR functions
✔️ Experience pricing services, writing commercial proposals and negotiating terms
✔️ Networks in food supply chains, hospitality or agribusiness, especially in Cebu and the Visayas, are a strong plus

After Typhoon Tino, Joremy's family lost their home and lived in an evacuation center where two toilets served everyone — for bathing, for laundry, for everything.

"It was hard to adjust because we have children and an elder with us. The bed is cold at night, and by daytime it's hot", sha said.

Today, Joremy and her family are home, safe and secure. Through the Core Resilient SAFE Shelter Project (CoRe-SAFE), she led the rebuilding of their house, designed to stand up better to future storms.

CoRe-SAFE (Core Resilient SAFE Shelter Project) is a permanent shelter recovery initiative led by CARE Philippines, with support from the Tijori Foundation, for families displaced by Typhoon Tino in Talisay City, Cebu. The project is helping up to 90 households move from prolonged displacement to safe, dignified, and disaster-resilient permanent homes built to Build Back Safer standards, in partnership with the Talisay City and barangay local governments, the Local Housing Authority, and community-based organizations.

Half the role keeps operations running:
Payment requests, cash advances and liquidations
Procurement and supplier documentation
Venues, transport, meals and supplies
Readiness checks before every activity
Assets, inventory and records that hold up to an audit

The other half is out in the community:
Co-facilitating financial literacy and livelihood sessions
Helping VSLA savings groups form and keep going

Onboarding BHWs to the HEAL Hub digital learning app

✅ What you need:

200 Forums, One Common Goal: A More Climate-Resilient Philippines

DOST-PAGASA marks a significant milestone as it celebrates the 200th National Climate Forum (CF200) on 23 September 2026.

With the theme “CF200: Celebrating Our Legacy of Climate Services for Climate-Informed Decisions,” the forum will showcase the advances in PAGASA's climate information products, services, and digital innovations, and present the latest updates regarding the climate outlook and conditions for the coming months.

The event will also recognize the valuable contributions of government agencies, local government units, development partners, academic institutions, media organizations, and climate information users who have supported and strengthened the Climate Forum through the years.

The B-STRONG Project Launch marked a significant milestone in Lalawigan ng Rizal (Official) (Rizal Province) — the start of our collective fight against rising cases of hypertension and diabetes.

B-STRONG is a partnership between the AbbVie Foundation and CARE that trains and equips Frontline Health Workers in Rizal Province to connect communities to critical healthcare services, ensuring that more Rizaleños can access the care and support they need.

Through this collaboration across existing public health systems, B-STRONG creates a blueprint for lasting change in communities across the Philippines and beyond.
