PSLINK - PUBLIK together with the Maka-BHWs Pilipinas joined the House Committee on Local Government meeting yesterday where the consolidated bill on the Magna Carta for Barangays was approved — a crucial step toward long-overdue recognition of the people who keep our communities running every day. ✊🏽

We assert that this measure must be comprehensive, inclusive, and firmly grounded in workers’ rights — not limited to elected and appointive officials, but covering all barangay workers who deliver essential frontline services.

We underscore that Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Day Care Workers, Barangay Tanods, Barangay Violence Against Women Desk Officers, Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Volunteers and other barangay workers are not volunteers to be taken for granted — they are essential public workers who deserve rights, protection, and dignity.

We extend our appreciation to House Representative Roman Romulo for strongly pushing the inclusion of barangay personnel, not just barangay officials, in the bill — an important step toward recognizing the full breadth of workers serving our communities. 👏🏽

While PSLINK continues to push for the Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and the enhanced Magna Carta of Public Health Workers, we equally call for the passage of a comprehensive Magna Carta for Barangays that protects and advances the full spectrum of rights of all workers at the barangay level.

This includes guaranteeing:
✔️ Fair salaries and benefits
✔️ Security of tenure and protection from arbitrary removal
✔️ Access to social protection, healthcare, and retirement benefits
✔️ Safe and humane working conditions
✔️ Recognition as essential public service workers

Ensuring decent work for barangay workers is fundamental to strengthening frontline public services in our communities. When workers are protected, fairly compensated, and supported, communities receive better healthcare, nutrition, safety, and social services. Strong barangay services begin with empowered and dignified workers.

For too long, barangay workers have carried the burden of public service without protection and adequate support. This must end.

PSLINK stands firm: No worker left behind. Strong communities and quality public services require protected workers — decent work, full rights, and dignity for all barangay workers now! 💪🏽

PSLINK - PUBLIK joined the filing of the proposed Magna Carta of Waste Workers by the TUCP Party-list—a long-overdue measure to finally uphold the rights, dignity, and welfare of one of the most neglected sectors in our workforce.

Waste workers are on the frontlines of keeping our communities clean, safe, and livable. Yet, many continue to endure unsafe working conditions, lack of social protection, and inadequate pay. This must change.

The proposed Magna Carta seeks to ensure safe and humane working conditions, fair wages, access to social protection, and full recognition of waste workers as essential public service providers.

PSLINK - PUBLIK fully supports this initiative. We call on our legislators to urgently pass this bill and uphold decent work for those who serve our communities every day. ✊

𝐏𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞-𝐁𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 organized by the Procurement Service – Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) yesterday, strengthening our push for transparent and accountable governance.✊

The activity forms part of the celebration of Open Government Week, a global initiative led by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) that advances transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance. In the Philippines, a series of activities from 18 to 22 May 2026 brings together government, civil society, and citizens to promote open governance.

Through this engagement, PSLINK reaffirms our continuing commitment to equip public sector unions with the knowledge and tools to scrutinize procurement processes, demand accountability, and combat corruption. Building union capacity on open data and e-procurement is essential to ensuring that public resources are used efficiently, ethically, and in the genuine service of the Filipino people. ✊

His message is clear: this is a 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Public health workers continue to face persistent and worsening challenges—low wages, delayed benefits, unsafe working conditions, and inadequate protections—despite being at the frontlines of safeguarding our communities.

It is urgent that we amend the Magna Carta of Public Health Workers to make it truly responsive to the needs and realities of public health workers. From doctors, nurses, and midwives to support staff and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), all deserve:
✔️ Fair wages
✔️ Adequate benefits
✔️ Safe and healthy workplaces
✔️ Stronger protections

Health workers deserve more than thanks and applause.

They deserve dignity, protection, and justice.

ILO presented its 2025 Online Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Stakeholder Survey.

PSLINK together with other labor groups highlighted how current FTAs are failing workers. Some of the issues raised include the lack of transparency, job losses, contractualization, weakened protections, freedom of association violations, and labor provisions that exist on paper but lack enforcement in practice.

PSLINK joined the broad mobilization this Labor Day, standing in solidarity with workers across all sectors as we take to the streets to demand urgent change.

Amid soaring prices, deepening inequality, and the government’s continued neglect of its own workers, public sector unions refuse to remain silent. Government workers—who deliver essential services to the people every day—are being pushed further into hardship by low wages, job insecurity, and anti-worker policies.

Public sector unions demand immediate and concrete action:
✊ Increase the Personnel Economic Relief Allowance (PERA) to ₱7,000 now!
✊ Equalize the salaries of national and local government workers!
✊ Remove VAT on basic goods and services!
✊ Implement a wealth tax to make the richest pay their fair share!
✊ Regularize Job Order and Contract of Service workers, Barangay Health Workers, and other precarious workers in the public sector!
✊ End attacks on unionists and human rights defenders
✊ Enact the Public Service Labor Relations Act strengthen the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining of public workers
✊ Stop the privatization of water, energy, public markets, airports, health care and other public services!
✊ Hold all corrupt officials accountable and ensure the return of stolen public funds!

These are not just demands—they are urgent measures for survival, dignity, and justice.

Labor Day is a day of struggle. And today, we march not only for ourselves, but for every Filipino who relies on strong, accessible, quality public services.

In the past two days just before Labor Day, PSLINK has been at the forefront of back-to-back and simultaneous actions—amplifying the voices of public sector workers and pushing forward our urgent demands and priorities as Labor Day approaches.

📣 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐄𝐑𝐒’ 𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒

Together with fellow public sector labor federations under the All Public Sector Unions, PSLINK co-organized a press conference to highlight the urgent demands of government workers on Labor Day.

We called for:
✊ Immediate economic relief amid rising prices and energy costs through increasing the Personnel Economic Relief Allowance and giving it to all public workers, including Job orders and contract of service workers
✊ Substantial salary increases and living wage for all government workers, and equal salaries between national and local government employees
✊ Right to security of tenure and regularization of all deserving job orders, contract of service, Barangay Health Workers, and other precarious/informal workers in the public sector
✊ Ending all attacks on freedom of association and collective bargaining and the passage of the Public Service Labor Relations Act
✊ Stopping privatization and reclaiming public ownership and democratic control of water, power, public markets, and other public services
✊ Enforcing accountability, stronger measures against corruption, and the return of stolen funds

PSLINK joined the signing of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Labor Education Act (RA 11551)—a long-overdue step in institutionalizing labor education in schools.

While we lament the five-year delay in its adoption, we remain hopeful that this marks the beginning of meaningful implementation to empower future workers with knowledge of their rights.

Today, PSLINK joined the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, where our representatives served as panel reactors to bring forward the urgent realities faced by workers in public services.

PSLINK emphasized that occupational safety and health (OSH) remains a pressing concern across the public sector. Workers continue to face unsafe working conditions, inadequate protection, and increasing cases of violence and harassment in the workplace.

PSLINK advocates for:
✔️ Strengthening and full implementation of OSH policies across all government workplaces
✔️ Ensuring accountability and concrete action—not just commitments
✔️ Addressing violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment, in the world of work with urgency including the passage of the proposed ILOC190 enabling law or the Safe World of Work Bill
✔️ Guaranteeing adequate resources, protection, and support for all public workers, including job orders and contract of service workers, Barangay Health Workers, and other precarious or informal workers in government.

A truly safe world of work means no worker is left unprotected, unheard, or unsafe.

PSLINK stands firm in pushing for stronger policies, decisive action, and genuine social dialogue to uphold the dignity, safety, and rights of all workers.
