SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT 🌠 AND STRAIGHT ON TILL MORNING 🌤️

Setting sail for Neverland ⚓️ and never looking back 🏝️, the HG Debate Team achieves a full contingent break and brings home 7 speaker awards at the Philippine Schools Debate Championships (PSDC), one of the two prestigious national debate competitions in the Philippines for high school debaters. 🇵🇭

🗣️ Kimberly Co and Sofia Caraig were the 1st Open Breaking Team and 1st Ranking Ana Alano Team. They made history for the HGDT by making it to the Open National Grandfinals. Kimberly Co was awarded the 3rd Best Ana Alano Speaker Award and 5th Best Open Speaker Award. Sofia Caraig was awarded the Overall Best Ana Alano Speaker Award and Overall Best Open Speaker Award.

🗣️ James Vega and Pollux Reyes were the 5th Open Breaking Team and 4th Ranking Ana Alano Team. James was awarded the 6th Best Ana Alano Speaker Award and 10th Best Open Speaker Award. Pollux was awarded the 8th Best Ana Alano Speaker Award. They proudly ended their run as Open Quarterfinalists.

🗣️ Eñigo Uy and Andrea Reyes were the 8th Open Breaking Team and 5th Ranking Ana Alano Team. They proudly ended their run as Open Octofinalists.

🗣️ Iolé Del Rosario and Chris Padua were the 8th Ana Alano Breaking Team. They proudly ended their run as Ana Alano Semifinalists.

🗣️ Matty Galido and Asaph Posadas were the 11th Ana Alano Breaking Team. They proudly ended their run as Ana Alano Quarterfinalists.

🗣️ Zeke Calunsag and Tiara Ortega were the 14th Ana Alano Breaking Team. They proudly ended their run as Ana Alano Quarterfinalists.

DON'T REWIND 🎵 FAST FORWARD! ⏩

We kicked off nationals season with a blast at the Fast Forward Pre-PSDC, held last November 22-23, 2025 and hosted by the UP Debate Society. 🎸

🎶 Kimberly Co and Sofia Caraig were the 1st Open Breaking Team and ended their run as Open Grandfinalists. Sofia was the Overall Best Open Speaker and Kimberly was the 3rd Best Open Speaker.

🎶 Ashley (James) Vega and Pollux Reyes were the 11th Open Breaking Team and ended their run as Open Quarterfinalists. Pollux was the 9th Best Open Speaker.

CONQUER THE SKIES ☁️

With hearts afire ❤️‍🔥 and souls of dragons 🐉, the HG Debate Team took home 3 breaks and 3 speaker awards at the National Asians High School Debating Championships (NASHDC), one of the two most prestigious and well-known national competitions for High School debaters in the Philippines. 🇵🇭

🏆 Ashley (James) Vega, Matthew Galido and Pollux Reyes were the 13th Open Breaking Team. They ended this run with heads held high as National Semifinalists. This is the first time an HG team has achieved this feat.

🏆 Kimberly Co, Sofia Caraig and Andrea Reyes were the 2nd Open Breaking Team of the Philippines. Kimberly Co was awarded Overall Best Open Speaker, Sofia Caraig was awarded 3rd Best Open Speaker, and Andrea Reyes was awarded 10th Best Open Speaker. They proudly ended this run as National Octofinalists.

🏆 Eñigo Uy, Tiara Ortega and Chris Padua broke as the 2nd Novice Reserve Team.

The debaters flew over turbulent weather — journeying through debate peaks and valleys — all the while etching memories with their fiery breaths 🐲 of logic and skill.

The HG Debate Team would like to congratulate its contingent for their amazing performance at the Diliman Schools Asian Parliamentary (DSAP), held last September 20-21, 2025 and hosted by Diliman Debating.

🗣️ Sofia Caraig, Andrea Reyes and Kimberly Co were the 3rd Open Breaking Team, and made it all the way to the Grandfinals. Kimberly Co was awarded the Overall Best Open Speaker award, Sofia Caraig was awarded the 2nd Best Open Speaker award, and Andrea Reyes was awarded the 10th Best Open Speaker award.

The HG Debate Team congratulates its contingent for their extraordinary performance in the Lantugi Novice Cup, held last August 30-31, 2025 and hosted by UP Cebu Lantugi.

The HG Debate Team congratulates its contingent for their outstanding performance in the Grassroots Debate Open, held last August 1-3, 2025 and hosted by the Swing Union. 🌱

⚔️ Jayden Espares and Zach Ramirez scored the 18th Open Break and ended their run at the Open Pre-Quarterfinals.

The HG Debate Team congratulates its members for their excellent performance in the North Luzon Invitational Debates, held last July 19-20, 2025 and hosted by the UP Baguio Debate Varsity.

🗣️ Kimberly Co, in a composite team with Kov Apura from PSHS-MC, broke 8th in the Open Division and made it all the way to the Open Semifinals.

🗣️ Ashley (James) Vega and Pollux Reyes broke 10th in the Open Division and made it all the way to the Open Quarterfinals.

The HG Debate Team congratulates its contingent for their performance in the Intertext Pro-Ams, held last July 5-6, 2025 and hosted by Intertext.

🗣️ Kimberly Co competed alongside our very own HGDT coach, Jill Aycardo. They were the 1st Open Breaking Team and made it all the way to the Open Semifinals! Kim received the 2nd Best Speaker Award while Jill received the Overall Best Speaker Award.

The HG Debate Team congratulates its members for their excellent performance in the Everest World Schools Debating Championships, held last July 4-6, 2025 and hosted by the Debate Network Nepal. 🏆

🏔️ The team composed of Tiara Ortega, Pollux Reyes, Eñigo Uy and James Vega broke 2nd and made it all the way to the Open Semifinals.

🏔️ The team also brought home speaker awards! Tiara Ortega was awarded 3rd Best Open Speaker, Pollux Reyes was awarded 9th Best Open Speaker and 3rd Best Middle School Speaker, Eñigo Uy was awarded 8th Best Middle School Speaker, and James Vega was awarded 2nd Best Open Speaker.
