History:

In May 2007, Atty. Miriam “Mhee” C. Clorina, the 13th President of RC Dasmarinas for RY 2003-2004, went to Japan with Past President Leo Eusebio and then President Peter Clorina for the renewal of the sister agreement with RC Ishinomaki West, Japan. Inspired by the prevailing amity and goodwill, PP Mhee dreamed of chartering a new club upon her arrival in Manila. The desire was so intens

e that she forthwith relayed the concept to her very close friend, Rotarians Sally delos Santos, then Anne Helen Timbang and Anne Barbara Dechosa. PP Mhee called up CP Lucien Sayuno of RC Dasmarinas to seek permission and she was advised to personally notify the incumbent president of RC Dasmarinas, Cavite, Lilian dela Cruz. PP Mhee readily heeded the counsel of CP Lucien Sayuno, after which she excitedly called the first organizational meeting attended by her close friends at the then newly constructed Heaven and Greens Spa and Restaurant. Invitations spread like quick fire and before long, the group swelled to twenty-two (22) members. There were subsequent casual meetings until PP Mhee informed PDG Josie Ang and informed her of intention to organize a new club. PDG Governor Alex Haung was designated as the District Governor’s Special Representative. Upon deliberation, the sponsoring of RC Metro Dasmarinas was discussed as part of the agenda. The group brainstormed on the prospective name for the club and the first choice was Rotary Club of Cavite Centro. The said name, however, was disapproved as it sounded similar to an existing club. Several other names were considered until PP Mhee thought of forming a name out of the name of the mother club, RC Manila Metro. With this in mind, the name Rotary Club of Metro Dasmarinas was conceived and unanimously adopted. The charter papers for RC Metro Dasmarinas were approved by the Rotary International on April 15, 2009, and amidst a luau-inspired setting at the heaven and Greens Spa, at Dasmarinas, Cavite, RCMD was formally recognized on June 30, 2009. With the birth of RCMD, CP Mhee’s has turned into realty!
