Before this day ends, letโs take a little moment to look backโnot simply at the years that have passed, but at everything that had to happen for AdU-CARES to become what it is today.
From the Semicolon Society in 2019 to the AdU-CARES we know today, our story has never been a straight line. It has been made of beginnings and goodbyes, quiet seasons and growing ones, new faces and familiar hearts, little sparks of ideas, and moments that taught us to keep going. Seven years of learning what it means to care, to listen, to make space, and to remind someone that their story deserves to be heard.
But a journey like this could never have been carried by an organization alone. It was carried by people. By the officers who once stayed behind after everyone else had gone home, figuring out what AdU-CARES could become. By the Servant Leaders who came before us, who gave their time, patience, and hearts to an organization that was still finding its footing. By every Carebear who joined, volunteered, wrote, designed, planned, facilitated, listened, showed up, and sometimes simply stayed beside someone who needed a little company ๐ซ
To our mentors, partners, and everyone who has believed in the work of AdU-CARES, thank you for being part of the many hands that helped carry this little heart forward. And to our adviser, Doc Celso, thank you for being one of the familiar threads woven through so many chapters of our storyโfor guiding us, believing in us, and reminding us that this work is worth continuing ๐ฉต
Some of the people who shaped AdU-CARES are still here. Some have already found their way into different chapters of their lives. Some may only see us from a distance now. But each of them left something behindโa lesson, a memory, a tradition, a little bit of courage, a reason for the next Carebear to keep going.
Because perhaps thatโs the beautiful thing about being a Carebear: you may leave the chapter, but a little piece of your heart stays in the story. Once a Carebear, always a Carebear ๐งธ
And maybe that is what makes seven years so special. AdU-CARES was never meant to belong to just one batch, one set of officers, or one moment in time. It has always been something we pass forward: a little heart from one Carebear to another, carrying everything we have learned while making room for something better ๐ซถ๐ผ
So to the people who came before us: thank you for building something worth carrying. We may not be able to recreate every chapter exactly as it was, but we can honor it by continuing what you startedโby listening a little more closely, caring a little more deeply, creating safer spaces, and finding new ways to reach the people who need us ๐ท
Weโll carry the heart you entrusted to us, learn from what you built, and keep growing it in our own little waysโso that someday, another Carebear can look back and say, โsomeone cared enough to leave this for us, too.โ ๐
Happy 7th Anniversary, AdU-CARES! ๐ค๐
To every heart that carried us here, every Carebear carrying us now, and every Carebear who will come after usโthank you for being part of the story ๐ฑ
As we continue carrying this little heart forward, may we always do so in the spirit of mental health resilienceโand always remember, ๐งธ๐ฉต
