Strengthening International Linkages for Human Rights and Justice 🇬🇧🇵🇭

Justitia Lab recently paid a courtesy call and held a collaborative meeting with the British Embassy in Manila to exchange perspectives on shared priorities and explore areas for future cooperation.

Atty. Camille Parpan, the Embassy’s Human Rights Advisor, shared their work on human rights and justice, gender equality, environmental protection, modern slavery and human trafficking, cybersecurity, and media freedom.

The Justitia Lab delegation was led by Executive Director Arvhie Santos, together with Deputy Executive Director Atty. Marielle Ramacola, Education and Research Director Ramon Bautista, and Associate Claire Sto. Tomas.

The dialogue also highlighted strong areas of convergence with Justitia Lab’s work, particularly in improving access to justice through open government, advancing gender equality, promoting environmental justice, and strengthening human rights protection.

We are grateful to the British Embassy for the warm welcome and substantive exchange, and we look forward to building partnerships that translate shared commitments into concrete initiatives.

Justitia Lab was invited by Akbayan Youth and the Office of Akbayan Representative Chel Diokno to participate in the Youth Budget Consultation on the 2027 National Budget.

Our organization was represented by ED Arvhie Santos and Atty. Clyde Richmond Lazaro. Luis Albert Gallemit and Lance Avery Alo of Youth Policy Builders Lab also participated in the consultation.

The consultation covered key youth concerns including education, youth employment and decent work, mental health, climate justice, digital rights, gender equality, peace and security, democratic participation, social protection, and other pressing issues.

Justitia Lab is committed to bringing our grassroots experiences and policy recommendations to the table to help shape a budget that truly serves Filipino youth.

Justitia Lab proudly celebrated the successful culmination of the Youth Policy Builders Lab: Capstone & Graduation, marking the graduation of our inaugural cohort of young policy builders. Over the past months, the delegates have gone beyond learning the fundamentals of policymaking. They have researched pressing social issues, collaborated across sectors, and transformed innovative ideas into evidence-based policy proposals.

This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our distinguished panelists, mentors, legal consultants, resource persons, and volunteers who generously shared their expertise and time throughout the delegates' learning journey.

We likewise extend our deepest gratitude to Youth Policy Innovations PH, IBP Rizal-RSM Chapter, José Rizal University as well as to the collaborators—the Office of the House of Representatives — Office of Cong. Edwin Cruzado, MD, the National Youth Commission, Angat Buhay, De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, José Rizal University, JCI Antipolo, and everyone who believed in the vision of empowering young Filipinos to become capable policy innovators.

On 18 June 2026, Justitia Lab was invited to join the Screen Smart event organized by Meta at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City. The gathering convened government partners, educators, civil society organizations, and child safety advocates to discuss practical tools and collaborative approaches to ensuring safer online experiences for Filipino youth, including the enhanced Teen Accounts and broader efforts to advance online safety in the Philippine context.

Representing Justitia Lab were Mark Apollo F. Garcia and Education and Research Director Ramon Timothy Bautista, who joined fellow stakeholders in fostering dialogue on youth digital well-being and online protection.

As technology continues to shape how young people learn, engage, and participate in society, Justitia Lab remains committed to promoting digital literacy and championing a safer, more inclusive online environment where every young Filipino can thrive.
