UNHCR, through its partner ACCORD, distributed cash assistance to families in four barangays severely affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
The first round of assistance reached 2,100 people, prioritizing displaced families and vulnerable groups, including Indigenous Peoples, older persons, and solo parents.
This support remains critical. As of 31 July 2026, 108,472 people were still displaced in Regions XI, XII, and BARMM. Many continue to live in temporary shelters while facing heavy rains, flooding, landslides, and aftershocks.
UNHCR is preparing for a second round of cash assistance distribution in August to reach more affected families and help them begin rebuilding their lives with dignity.
