The Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines The Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CANCHAM) It organizes over 50 events per year for its members and others.

Established in 1989 and registered with Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) as a non-profit organization, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) supports and promotes Canadian-Filipino business interests. Membership is open to Canadian and Filipino business corporations as well as to individuals engaged in Canadian-Filipino business activities. The membership includes large multinational corporations, small and medium business enterprises, and individuals involved in a wide range of business activities. The CanCham is governed within the framework set in its By-Laws registered with the (SEC). The Board of Trustees has approved a Code of Conduct with which all Trustees, Governors, officers and the Executive Director of the CanCham are required to comply.

Celebrating Legacy, Welcoming New Members, and Strengthening Leadership

Last night, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines recently hosted a special networking event that brought together members, partners, and leaders to celebrate community, recognize contributions, and chart the path forward.

CanCham expressed heartfelt appreciation to former President Chris Ilagan for his steadfast leadership and invaluable contributions to the Chamber. His legacy continues to inspire collaboration, volunteerism, and the strengthening of ties between the Canadian and Philippine business communities.

The event also served as a warm introduction for our new members, who bring fresh perspectives and energy to the Chamber. Their participation reflects the growing diversity and inclusivity of our community, reinforcing our mission to build a more engaged and visible platform for business growth.

🌏 Canada–Philippines: A Strategic Partnership for Growth 🇨🇦🇵🇭

CanCham was honored to join the Asia Society gathering where Fernando Zobel de Ayala welcomed dignitaries and guests, highlighting the importance of dialogue across the Indo-Pacific. With the Embassy of Canada’s partnership, the evening celebrated the elevation of Canada–Philippines relations to a strategic partnership.

Guest of honor Minister Anita Anand emphasized 77 years of friendship, the Filipino community’s vital role in Canada, and rising trade and investment flows. She shared updates on ongoing FTA negotiations and Canada’s Indo-Pacific strategy, backed by $2B in investments.

The discussions spotlighted opportunities in clean tech, critical minerals, energy, and defense, while reaffirming people-to-people ties and the importance of principled pragmatism in global affairs.

✨ The evening closed with optimism and collaboration — a shared vision for deeper cooperation and innovation.

CanCham at the 21st JFC Networking Night … That’s a wrap! 🥂✨

An incredible turnout marked the 21st Joint Foreign Chambers Networking Night, organized by the JFC—composed of the American, Canadian, European, Japanese, and Korean Chambers of Commerce, along with the Philippine Association of Multinational Companies ROHQ.

The evening brought together members of the foreign business chambers, the diplomatic corps, and the wider business community for meaningful conversations, new connections, and strengthened partnerships.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) was delighted to be part of this milestone gathering—celebrating collaboration, camaraderie, and the collective spirit of the international business community in the Philippines.

🤝 Strengthening public–private collaboration with the BIR

On 23 June, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Multi-Sectoral Group (PMSG) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the BIR National Office in Quezon City, renewing and institutionalizing the BIR–Multi Sectoral Working Group.

Representing the Joint Foreign Chambers (JFC), Atty. Maria Concepcion Simundac-Delos Santos of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) signed the MOA, joined by Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) former President and Advocacy Co-Chair Chris Ilagan, alongside fellow stakeholders in support of this important milestone.

The renewed agreement reinforces a shared commitment to meaningful policy dialogue, transparency, and constructive collaboration between the public and private sectors. Through continued engagement, the business community and government can work together to foster a fair, transparent, and growth-oriented business environment that benefits all.

TIPON: Gather. Connect. Belong.

CanCham Mindanao successfully held its inaugural TIPON, bringing together members and partners for an afternoon of meaningful conversations, fresh ideas, and renewed connections.

The gathering was facilitated by Maria Rowena Gempesaw, together with Chairperson Jocelyn A. Romero, Atty. Jude Ralph V. Yap, Faye Tampepe of Pioneer Insurance, Reine Kathryn Rala of MEDA, and Marigold Gonzaga of Davao City Map Guide.

The afternoon provided a relaxed space to exchange ideas, discuss upcoming Chamber initiatives, and explore collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening CanCham Mindanao's visibility and engagement within the business community.

More than a gathering, TIPON serves as a platform where relationships are nurtured, ideas are shared, and opportunities begin.
