On November 18, the Korean Chamber of Commerce Philippines (KCCP), Inc. held its Christmas Year End party at the Ayala Banquet of Makati Sports Club to celebrate the yuletide season and for closing another successful year with all its members. This year, the Korean community commemorated the 75th anniversary of its diplomatic ties with the Philippines. In KCCP President Mr. Hyunchong Joseph Um’s welcome remarks, he reiterates the importance of strengthening the relation of the two nations. During the program, the Philippines’ special envoy of the president to Korea for Trade and Investment His Excellency Amb. Bryan C. Lim also graced the event and gave a congratulatory message as well as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President Consul Enunina Mangio.
As this is a season of giving, KCCP highlighted its Scholarship Program led by KCCP Scholarship Committee Chairman Mr. Jae Jung Jang accompanied by KCCP Director Ms. Young Ai Lee. Two former scholars of KCCP, Ms. Ia Denise Collantes and Ms. Clarence Gayle Vera were introduced and gave their testimonials and shared their success stories respectively. Ms. Ia Collantes , a 2023 Graduate of BS in Forestry from the University of the Philippines Los Baños has recently passed the 2024 Forester Licensure Exam last October 2024 and she is now a Registered Professional Forester, while Ms. Clarence Gayle Vera, a 2022 Magna Cumlaude Graduate of BS in Sociology from Polytechnic University of the Philippines is now working in a well-known private company in the Philippines under the field of Business Development. In addition, two other former scholars and five current scholars of KCCP also shared their video greetings and extended their gratitude to KCCP.
During the event, the Korean Chamber of Commerce Philippines, Inc. also received a prestigious Citation Award from the Republic of Korea awarded by His Excellency Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa and was received by President Um together with the KCCP Honorary Presidents; Mr. Lee Kwan Soo, Mr. Jang Jae Jung and Mr. Lee Ho Ik. This award is given to an organization who presents a great contribution for Korea, this is the first time a Philippine-based Korean organization received this prestigious award given by the Korean Government.
The event was also enjoyed by the members and guests as KCCP invited entertainment from the SB Town headed by Mr. Robin Jeong . There were also numerous raffles given away during the event.
