Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa is Samoa Language Week!
The 2026 theme for Samoa Language Week is "‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le 'nu'u | From the high mountains are the blessings of the village."

This Samoan proverb can be understood in many different ways, both in a traditional sense and in relation to the experiences of today. It can refer to the environment surrounding the village, as well as the leaders of today who then pass down knowledge and blessings. This morning Skylight and were delighted to welcome Dr Terry Tang, Prof. Chui Yat-hung, and students from the Dept of Applied Social Sciences at HKCT Institute of Higher Education, Hong Kong. We shared our counselling and programmes mahi, explored the unique NZ context of our work, and learned from each other in the process. Safe travels home!

Earlier today, we hosted a Pink Ribbon Breakfast at our office, and it was a great success! With the generosity of the community around us, and the NZ businesses who supported us with food or vouchers, we have now raised over $1000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
