BUSTING CLUB MYTHS: Clubs are for getting drunk and unruly.

FACT: Clubs are some of the safest hospitality environments in the country, with trained staff, host responsibility, and a community-first culture. When you choose your local club, you’re choosing a safer night out.

A strong sense of community is an important aspect of club life. Many clubs offer plenty of opportunities to volunteer to support your community and club. From helping with events, to assisting on the Board or helping at the raffles table, many clubs encourage their members to get involved and give back to their club.

👏 Thank you to all Club volunteers 👏

BUSTING CLUB MYTHS: Pokie $$ line the pockets of clubs.

FACT: Clubs must use gaming profits for approved authorised purposes, not for private gain. This means that money made on gambling machines are used for directly supporting and maintaining the club or grants that are given to assist in community activities and benefits. For some of our larger clubs, they can give upwards of $40,000 a year to support their local community. Whether that is buying uniforms for the local soccer team, providing funds for schools to improve facilities or donating money to communities in need and much more!

"What Mighty Contests Rise From Trivial Things!"

Clubs New Zealand Inc and Believe it or Not are delighted to announce the Clubs NZ Quiz League beginning next week!

Any teams playing our quiz at participating Clubs NZ venues will go head-to-head over 13 weeks (June through August) alongside our Winter Quiz League, to determine which club has the strongest quiz teams in New Zealand. We'll also be introducing the Clubs NZ Quiz League trophy, giving teams something tangible to complete for and celebrate!

IMPORTANT: Teams please note: your venue must score via their quiz software, so that your team's scores qualify through to the leaderboard each time. You must ALWAYS login via our QR code on screen when you start the quiz, and enter the six character game code each night, before playing in the quiz as usual.

There is also $10,000 worth of prizes to be won over that three month season in collaboration with our Winter Quiz League!

Best of luck!

Every club has a “Jim”. The person who quietly does the mahi without expecting recognition. Tag someone who makes your club better just by being there.

Congratulations to New Plymouth Club for reaching this milestone membership!

!!!!13,000 MEMBERS!!!!

Today we officially crossed the 13,000 member mark — and honestly, we can hardly believe it.

When we first began the renovations and the wider revitalisation of the Club, we dreamed of building something bigger and stronger than ever before. But to see this community grow to more than 13,000 members is something really really special.

To our members — thank you. You are the reason our team turns up every day. You are the heart of this place, and you are what makes the New Plymouth Club feel like more than just a club. It is a safe, welcoming place to socialise, relax and be part of something.

And a massive shout-out to the incredible team who keep the engines running every single day — both out front and behind the scenes. Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear aprons, work shirts, chef jackets or high-vis. Some are behind the bar, in the kitchen, on the floor, in the office, on the tools, or working away on computers keeping everything moving.

13,000 members. What a milestone.

Could we get to 15,000? Well… here’s dreaming.

Whoop whoop — and thank you, from all of us at the Club

The Government is consulting on the Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Improving Alcohol Regulation) Amendment Bill, and the proposed changes will directly affect how clubs are licensed and how easily they can continue operating. Submissions to the Justice Committee close 11.59pm, 14 May.

For clubs, the Bill proposes several important updates including who can object to a licence, how renewals are handled, and whether clubs can hold a club licence or an on‑licence. These decisions will shape how clubs serve their members, host events, and stay compliant without unnecessary barriers.

We are currently working on our submission and hope to have a template out to clubs this week that they can amend.

Clubs New Zealand strongly supports the Bill; however, we will also be making a number of recommendations that we believe will introduce meaningful change for our member clubs.

We encourage clubs and members to have their say. A short submission explaining how your club operates, who you serve, and why practical licensing settings are essential will help Parliament understand the real‑world impact of these changes.

If clubs don’t speak up, others will shape the rules for us.
Make your submission by 14 May using the official form below:
